I have a 99 2500 and I'm looking in to up grading the brakes with cross drilled and slotted rotors and pads

who will give me the best bang for my buck?

do I need to take this to a shop or can some one that has done brakes before do it

Avoid EBC & Brakes-R-Us.

I had their rotors which were an improvement over stock.

But after a purchase of their pads, I will now avoid them.

The pads cracked, crumbled, and squeeled bad all within 500 miles.

Contacted Brakes-R-Us and was told this is normal.

Sorry, but I would never use pads that looked like that.

They were still under warranty, but nothing done.

With no customer service, I cannot recommend their products to anyone.

Stay away from drilled rotors. The holes were originally done years ago for pads that outgassed - where the old glues they used would heat up and produce a gas that would actually hold the pad off the rotor. Current pads don't have this problem.



Drilling also leads to stress points where their sharp edges meet the face of the rotor. Even if they are countersunk, the inside (vented area) can't be.



They also remove surface area from the rotor, which is the #1 thing you want to increase.
 
I will second the EBC rotors, good price, Dimpled not drilled and have been great for my trucks, had them on my HotShot truck (2000 dually) and have them on my 2500.

Had over 100K miles on the EBC rotors on my dually when I sold it and they still looked good for another 50K or so.

Well said! My slotted and cross-drilled rotors stopped worse and still warped in no time.

The last time I checked Powerslot's website, they didn't make rear rotors for my 02.



Call me finicky, but if I put them on the front, I have to put them on the rear.



Is Powerslot going to step up with rear rotors?
 
Tried the dimpled, slotted rotors on my 01 and about a year later, pulsing. Asked a friend at a tire shop and said I couldn't cut them. So now I had to get some oem replacements. Ain't gonna mess with the fancy crap anymore, just gonna get the same ol replacement stuff and be done with it. :-{}

Purchased them at Tire Rack. Not sure what brand they are. Sorry.

They keep the caliper bolts/pins happily lubed for the life of the pads even in the harshest enviroments.

My Dodge Is hard to get brakes for due to It age

I have a Dodge one ton 3500 a 1995 as a Scotty Motor Home with a straight axle In a two wheel drive. I would like to have a better brake like my 2004 Dodge 3500 has. The 95 brakes are weak compared to the 2004. What a fellow to do In this case. :{
