I went to wash my truck on friday in preperation for installing the 3M scotchcal plastic - it was just depressing to see how much paint is gone from dirt road driving. I am seriously thinking of installing the plastic just to keep things from getting worse, and then getting running boards to cover up all that bare metal on the rockers (wasn't able to put the plastic on anyway because it was too cold). So the question is, who makes the best boards? The main thing I am looking for is strength, I want these to be ROCK SOLID. Any experience you guys can share is appreciated.

You really think you can keep Vermont Rocks from that wonderful clean white truck?

NOT

Thanks for the garage time yesterday! Really enjoyed working in a clean dry environment. My compliments to you and your father on that building!!

Cat, looking at the PUTCO polished stainless units. I like shinny stuff. Seen a set on a Pherd they look good and at 225 lbs I bounced the heck out of them and they rocked the whole truck. Being you have the 2500 you have a lot more choices. My dad just put a set of the black extruded aluminum trailback by Dee-Zee on his '00 GMC. They are nice also, but they don't make them for the 3500. That's OK I want stainless. Anybody got any suggestions on the PUTCO's?

Arcticat, I went with Putco Stainless Steel Boss cab and box running boards as Scrmbld4x4 mentioned. Not only are these running boards strong, but they make my truck stand out in a crowd. If you are handy, you can install them yourself in one day.

When I was looking, the prices in my area were as follows (less tax) for the front and bed boards:

Leonard (installed): $1,000
Pep Boys: $639. 98 + S&H
Auto Zone: $455. 98 and no S&H

The choice was obvious - have fun installing!
