Since I've been looking for a 2015, I've seen some of the stupidest combination of packages.

What I hate most when searching is seeing a sea of crew cab short bed trucks. Or, all automatics and they're all 68RFE's.

Today I thought I found the perfect truck. Bighorn, G56, CCLB, granite. Woohoo! This particular model had a ton of options, luxury, comfort pkg, rear window defrost, 5ver pkg, clearence lights, etc etc. What killed my buzz was the lil 5.0 radio. Why would they chose so many options, then slap in the 5.0??

Another truck I liked was an SLT (not a Bighorn) And as most of you know, if you chose every option that's available for an SLT, it's financially cheaper to buy a Bighorn with the same goods. Anyway, this truck has all the whistles, but what sets this truck apart is that it has vinyl flooring. Doesn't really bother me much but I'm sure it bothers other people. This truck has been on the lot for at least 4-5 months, so I called the fleet dept yesterday for kicks. They yahoo's wouldn't budge an inch on price other than the standard $2500 off.

The other thing I've noticed is very little selection of middle of the road trucks. Either they are Laramies, limited's or....Tradesmans. Where's the love for SLT's & Bighorns? Maybe the middle trucks just sell faster?

Either way, it's my fault for not ordering when I had the chance and I can't wait it out to order a 2016. So now that might rant is over and my BP is elevated, I'm off to search for the right truck. Tonight, I'll search the New Mexico dealers. Cheers!

The dealers have a much better search function than the consumer has available.improve your bp,find a dealer fleet manager to help you look for what you want

I think Ram just sends out a variety of trucks to dealers. Those with higher volume have more influence over their stock.
And when another dealer asks to trade a truck, a high volume dealer can say, "we'll trade if you also take the unicorn with it."
And when they tell Ram they have more room on their lot, they have more chance of selling the nice truck (that replaced the unicorn) than the unicorn. People see the smaller torque nunbers and shy away from the G56. They don't realize that they can downshift to 5th when towing up hill and the truck does just fine.

I think most shy away from the G56 because they think selling a unicorn his less guaranteed (hit & miss).
And the G56 is a bit cheaper on the sticker so there is slightly less mark up to play with.

i think Ram doesn't look at the variety they send to dealers as a customer. They only look at price.

When I was looking for a G56. There was one 40 miles away. But my wife vetoed it because she didn't want a dually.
There was one 400 miles away, but we didn't like that one enough and the dealer wasn't cooperative. I bought one 800 miles away and had it shipped.
A dealer who gets a G56 doesn't know if they this is the lucky year they will find a buyer.

Stick Shift in America, close to no-go.
Here in Switzerland you have to make your Drivers License with a stick shift Car or you are bond by law to Automatic for the rest of your Life.
We do the License only once here, they last for ever, no renewal needed.

When a woman changes her name, can she change her license?

Or that's what they tell you to try and sell what they have on the lot!

And why they made it very expensive to order a truck. They wanted me to buy a truck with 68 RFE. I told them if I was buying an automatic, I'd buy an allison. But I think the Aisin has recently passed the Allison. There are no good dealers in Florida to my experience. I bought mine in North Carolina. And I think N Carolina just wanted to get the G56 off their lot to make room for a 68rfe or Aisin.

Well, I tried that but automatically get the cold shoulder when I ask if they can compete with out of state dealers. I'd feel like a chump if I used dealer (A) to locate a truck, only to buy the truck from dealer (B).

It was hard to find manual transmission trucks even when the manual transmission had more torque, such as in the 2nd gen trucks. For instance, when I bought my 2nd gen, the 6-speed had 505 ft/lbs and I believe the autos had 460. It's just Americans are lazy and don't want to shift. When I bought my second gen I had to go all the way to Virginia (from Phoenix) to find a truck with a manual.

So you never age according to the photo eh?

Generally there is one person at the dealer who is responsible for ordering vehicles. As a rule Chrysler does not just "ship" cars to dealers. Everything is ordered by the dealer, but there are those times on occasion when the plant is just starting up after a MY change or when parts are in short supply when the factory orders product to build. Then the sales Area Manager will call the dealer and say we have these vehicles for sale and they are already built. If you take x number of them I can get you some more Wrangler allocation or get that sold order scheduled. Other than that every vehicle is ordered by someone at the dealer. There are all kinds of reports available to the dealer on what mix is selling and what the suggested order mix should be. But many dealers think they know better and don't follow that advice. That is why you can look at one dealer and see all the same model or color, and another dealer is completely different. Then there is the guy ordering that likes cars but does not know anything about trucks.

That, or they just have a different preference than you. I prefer auto's for pretty much all driving situations, but I especially like them for winter driving, towing and for off-roading. It has nothing to do with laziness.

Some people like manuals simply because that is what they learned on, and they are stuck in nostalgia.

I'm still going with laziness or lack of skill. :-laf

I learned on a manual, and I certainly know how to use one, but I get no joy out of shifting gears manually (I suppose I am too complex of a being to get such simple pleasures ;) ) further, I never really thought of it as such an amazing skill to obtain...something you learn and use, it's not like an art.

I think my least favorite time to drive a manual is on a long steep grade, during a storm, with bumper to bumper traffic, inching along in 30 ft increments...but hey, I guess some revel in the opportunity to amaze themselves in that show of skill.....over and over and over and over again. ;)

That was yesterday, today women don't change her name when married, the Surname stays with you all life long.
Futuristic isn't it?

And to the license, you would have to re-do the whole Driving School with the Test at the end, costs around 4000-10000$ it depends how fast someone learns.
