I have to say for non carry hand guns I love my 44mags! So much I have a few now Super Blackhawks with and w/o scope, Redhawks, Taurus, and of course the real cannon Isreali arms Auto-Mag DESERT EAGLE in 44mag and 50 only prob is 50 loads are fun but seriously rob from the Cummins toy fund

I love going to the range and shooting the 200 / 250 yard gongs both open sight and scope, especially when these guys with there rifles on tripods and their reloader and instead of resighting they change the load and I come along and nail the plate open sighted. One time as I approached the table and sighted my Desert Eagle 44 and just as I get ready to pull the trigger Rifle guy says "You cant hit that from "BOOM" here) I reply excuse me You where saying, as the bullet hit the Gong.

So who likes big wrist riddlin firepower

You're forgetting the new big kid on the block... the . 500 S&W Magnum!!! Especially in the Taurus full-frame with a 2 1/4" barrel. That'll give ya carpal tunnel syndrome! Shooting a . 50 AE Speer afterwards is like shooting a . 38 after a . 44 mag.

Nice, I love Kick, when I pull the trigger I want to know the damn thing went off :-laf I have not done much gun wise in the last year or 2, been workin wayyy to much, and then with the other thread on carry guns, and work has slowed down some so I am back on the net (probably more than I should be) So it looks like alot of new toys have come to market, I might have to go shooting this weekend and get the adrenalin pumpin again

Ruger super redhawk in 454 casull. Forget carpell tunnel this thing will sprain or break a smaller wrist. If you are not ready when pulling the trigger you will have a berrel in the forehead due to kick back. I am 6'4" ,260 and have big strong hands and can not hardly hold on to it some days. I run 45 long colt rounds that I hot load through it most days. It is a lot easier to control.

Same here, love my super redhawk 454 casull, nothing beats the expression of the guys next to me when I empty a wheel full, they think it is a 44 mag until the first round is fired.

One thing I like to do to try and control my flintch is to let one of my buddies load it for me with 45 LC and 454 casull as they see fit, might be all 45LC or all 454 casull or a mix, the mix is the best.

i had a super close chance to get a 50 desert eagle a couple years ago but the guy found his wallet and got it outta hock just in time the biggest thing i have at the moment for hand cannon is my 44 mag sbh ruger, it's little brother is a old army black powder which with a little creativity has some considerable power, i did a little playing with some sabots off the clearance shelf at wally world, they usually go for $3 a box after bp season, they have a 240gr . 45 lead hp with a . 50 sabot (that gets tossed) and the real badazz a 155gr . 40 jhp with a . 45 sabot, bashing loose bricks at 20 odd yards with the 240s drop kicks the brick a couple feet and leaves a shiny spot, wack em with the 155 jhp and you make sand

i guess this counts as a hand gun, my one of my buddy's builds ak's for a living built me a toy for building him a truck, it's one of his specialitys a ak47 pistol, having no stock the short barrel won't get you in trouble, if it had a butt stock you would need to register it as a short barrel rifle and give uncle sam $200, with 5 round clips it's real handy and one handable but with a sling it really gets good and you can shoot the center out of the target

That a . 338 JDJ - shoots a 200 gr bullet at 2400 fps and I can shoot 1 inch groups at 200 yards with it. I've taken wood chucks out to 450 yards with this gun. It's a . 444 marlin case necked down to . 338. Total cartridge length is 3. 2" . It's a tack driver and KICKS! When I bought the gun it didn't have a muzzle brake on it and it was totally brutal - I put a total of 5 rounds through it and sent the barrel to SSK to have the muzzle brake added. Without the brake it would recoil to straight up at the sky over your head. Two people had owned it previously and put a total of approximately 60 rounds through it between the two of them - one of them was having wrist surgery. After putting the muzzle brake on I can now put about 40 rounds through it in a shooting session before my hand starts to hurt significantly (I use a PAAST shooting glove and pachmayer decelerator grips on it) - there is no muzzle rise at all with the brake, it comes straight back into you. I rarely ever shoot it under 200 yards.

Did you get the trigger fix done on the single action super Black Hawk for accidental discharge or is yours a newer model?

And by the way the 50 Desert Eagle is nice and fun but I have the barrels for 44 and 50 so I can convert one gun to either and I like it in 44mag better, cant really think of any reason why.

I would like to get a 454 some day but it comes down to the WANTS and the NEEDS and what I can justify plus the wife said a couple years ago "if anymore guns come home one better be leaving" and I dont want to give up any... Well maybe the 9mm that to me is an excuse for a gun, makes alot of noise and dont do crap no wonder it has a 17round clip, you need 17 shots to drop anything heck I dont like little guns but I would rather shoot my 22 ruger than my 9mm

But my fav is 44mag

It is unbelieveable the change a muzzle break can make, and that is a sweet toy I am starting to feel the need to go shooting and hit a gun show again :-laf

Always wanted a 45/70 barrel for my Contender. A few weeks ago a guy I know admitted to having owned one for five years but had never shot it. He invited me over to put a few through it.



Wish I'd had it when I put a 200gr 35 Rem into the shoulder (at 70 yds) of a pretty nice bull back in October. Tracked him for 6 hours (had snow), 3 miles or so till he quit bleeding and got in with several more elk and I was unable to keep it all sorted out. I did get a bull a couple of days later, but it was with a long gun. Sure would of liked to had a 400gr 45/70 bullet working on the first one.

mines a new model from the late 70s or early 80s, my dad egged the original barrel according to my uncle who witnessed it by thinking he could shoot out a squib load (damn engineer, he also thought he could unclog a toilet with the old army, but that's another story) so now it has the lovely "read your owners manual" lawyer speak on the new barrel, i improved the trigger pull by unhooking one side of the spring under the grips, sort of a 1 minute reversible trigger job, i think the old model AD fix was to add the transfer bar safety

saw one the other day at the gun/toy store, doesn't take 3" shells though, 3" 000 buck would be some serious medicine for what ails ya, 5 . 357 balls X 5 shots = 25 rounds
