Who saw the Lawnmower racing special on Discovery Channel?

On Monday night (5/12) the Discovery Channel had a special on the Lawn Mower racing circute here in the US.



Now that was a riot ... a bunch of beer swilling guys, working all night in their garages on riding lawing mowers getting them to go some 40mph! Now thats sounds like a lot of fun. Only in America where we have way to much free time could this "sport" come about.



Any of you fellas get into this? My wife said "don't get any ideas for that old Wheel Horse out in the sheed!!!" after seeing this.

I know one of the guys that was on there. He broke his collar bone racing and wanted me to take his place for awhile. I just don't have the time to do it, but it looks like fun.

there is some guy on this board that runs his gas mower on diesel. he says he gets it hot with gas and then converts it over to diesel... ... no the guys on the TDR are not diesel freaks:-laf

I can see myself modifying a tractor - that's the scary part.

do you really want to do triple digits on a vehicle with no suspension, crappy steering, usually lousy brakes, and no roll cage on the bumpy grass tracks they ae running on?

If I drink enough before mowing the lawn, my mower seems like it's doing 40mph.



I've raced the mail man few times. I usually catch him when he's stopped at the mailbox.

Triple digits on a lawnmower? Sure, why not..... can't be any worse than other vehicles on the road... . it's not like I'm recommending that someone race an entire race at that speed - I'd just like to see someone go really fast - record setting style.



I'm not a roundy-round racing guy - I want to see quick acceleration with decent top end.

I saw it, pretty cool!!



We are making a 5 person golf cart so that we can get around the race tracks without out walking. Only thing is that we are pulling a modified 150hp ATV engine to put in it!



We will have to work on the suspention a little, and then get some bigger tires.
