It was sort of last minute and we didnt know for sure what the classes would be.

It ended up being mainly a diesel pickup pull. The promoter guy was excited about diesels and wants to do another pull in the fall; I told him we could get a butt load of trucks there if he gave me enough time.

I guess its time for: Iron Giant, another truck and a gooseneck... :-laf

:D

Been there; done that. :-laf

Now I just gotta' catch you. Wishing I went a step or 2 up when I upgraded this clutch from 3650 to 3850. :(

SO... Master; I studied your footage and it looks to me like you do a slow roll until the clutch grabs then power up?

Well it will be rebuilt but with fe pucks and a higher plate load.

And hear I was thinking I was going to be OK with a 3600 12CB...

guess not. Then again, I would have Not thought to try 1:1 on the gearing. I plan on pulling in 3rd gear, 4low.

What do you think Justin? 3600 12cb enough for 3-4 hooks a year? (this is my daily driver) Or should I jump to the FB or the 3850? (and remember I am like 165lbs wet, so that pedal cant be one of those that takes both feet to push in ;) )

If you are really only going to pull 3 or 4 hooks a year then the 3600 should be ok. If you are only going to run 4lo it will be ok too (3rd lo is a waste of time).

With your power being 600hp+ I would go with a 3850CB it will hold quite a while until you start hooking in 5th gear! :-laf

With either the 3600 or 3850 you are going to need the hydro upgrade.

The 3600 is much nicer to drive on the street than the 3850 or 4200 to each his own though.

I can't really decide for you with the 3600 or 3850 thing but just remember that your truck isnt going down in power anytime soon!! :D

What clutch are you running now Justin?

I have about 6 hooks (all at about 600 hp) on my 3850 12 FB and it seems to be doing great!

My clutch just let loose after the addition of the SPS66, and now I'm in the market for a SB DD as well. In looking at the 3850 DD, what is the difference in the CB and FB (besides about $500)? I still need the truck to be streetable for daily driving, but need the extra holding power to harness some more power... and to be able to hold up to a few 3rd gear launches and maybe a few pulls a year. Thanks, Eric

Thanks Brandon (sick ram).

The FE pucks are "feramic" which is a metallic material and has a higher friction rate than the "cb" ceramic pucks.

But the drawbacks of the FE is that they are a little more touchy on the street than the Ceramic units.

The Feramic gives you that extra little insurance and holding power.

Although the Ceramic units are no slouch and will stand up to a ton of abuse.

The Feramic is basically for the trucks that are pulled all the time (like once a week :-laf )

It you mean you have to double pump the clutch on the street to get it moving in a non-violent manner... I am OK with that.

I just dont want a clutch that breaks your back when you start in 2nd gear. .

Tom,

They arent that bad to drive on the street once you get used to it.

But it does take some finesse.

Dan,

Thanks for the offer, but I deal direct ;) (w/sbc)

Hey Tom I've been driving everyday on a SBC 3850 12CB since about 5-6 months after I bought this truck (2 years ago) and I'm about 155-160 soaked. ;) :-laf

Me I'll stick to my 3rd Gear 4Low cause I tried 2nd Hi one time and it didn't do so hot. Re-hooked 3rd low and took home 2nd that night..... that night I was happy to have drawn 1st! :-laf
