It's hard to part with a good truck. Like you, I was fortunate my '05 went to a good home. A couple years ago, the new owner was passing through on his way to Phx, and brought it by for a visit, and it looked just as good as when he got it. It seems silly, but it does make you feel better.

Well.... she went to a new home today. Rather, is still on her way to a new home. I suspect that Will is about 1/2 way home as I type this.

I am still more bitter than sweet for selling her, but I can tell you that I am 110% satisfied with where she is going. I couldn't have asked for a better guy to buy the truck. I hope it serves him and his family well for a long time.

Will... since you admitted to internet stalking these posts, please reach out whenever you have a question or need anything.
I sold my 04.5 to my brother that really takes good care of it. I do get to visit it, and drive it once in awhile. I realy miss the power of that engine trans combination in stock form. My 07 C&C is a lot better for towing our Arctic Fox, but the 04.5 2500 CTD could handle it, if I kept the tanks empty except for enough fresh water to flush toilet. It would be an easy decision to replace the C&C with a new regular 3500 CTD DRW, but the cost of them are outrageous. With my C&C paid for, and we are getting close to a fixed income, its hard to justify the money.

AH64ID, have you experianced the dead pedal yet?

I have not. Not in the ‘18 or dad’s ‘17.

I’m thinking it has a lot to do with driving style. I’m the last away from a light and the first up the hill. I like to make power in the upper gears and not the lower ones. Never been that keen on romping on the throttle in low gears, it’s just hard on stuff.

It'll probably show its ugly head in bumper to bumper traffic, like SoCal has. Trying to merge in and out of lanes, as you navigate the freeway exchanges, is when I experianced it the most. Also when in 6th gear cruising at 50 mph.

Luckily I don’t hit bumper to bumper traffic.

So far the throttle response has been more than pleasant. Autos are different for me thou, as is the 6.7’s much lower power band from the added displacement and VGT.

And tuning! More like a modern OTR truck engine. SnoKing

I thought it had been addressed in one of these threads, but not seeing it now.

Did they totally get rid of the 3.42 gear ratio for 2019? (Both 2500 and 3500)?

Anybody have any idea if the tune of the new trucks necessitated the 3:42 going bye-bye? Or any other reasoning?

My speculation probably doesn't mean much. But i bet getting rid of the g56 made it not worth offering the 3.42 because of the single overdrive. Whereas both auto's have 2 OD gears built into the transmission.

They will probably steer those not towing heavy to the ecodiesel. I really would not want that engine, tho. I hear the timing chain slippage causes it to self destruct?

I would have likely gone with 4.10's given the option on my '18... and still may, but I am going to give it a towing season to see how it does. I'm not at all worried about starting or high speed, but I do a lot of towing in the 10-25 mph range and 4.10's would get me into 2nd and locked at a slower speed.... so I'll wait and see how the trans temps are this summer.

I was concerned about the 3.42’s on my 2017 before I bought it but after towing with it I have to say they are not bad. I don’t do a lot of towing under 20 mph though so that might be different if I did. Normally my towing is in the 10-15k range so not very heavy.
