Single stack?

Timing box detection ??

I was wondering how many different types of modified turbos are out there, who has done the modifications and what are the pros and cons of the turbo. I am looking for a super reliable turbo that will keep my EGT's below 1300 and not exceed 36lbs of boost. It also has to be quiet in normal operation because I drive lots of miles. The jet-engine whine does get old after a while. I have 275's and a blue box so I am not heavily fueled. All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Turbo

I run PDR HX/35 and until i nail it,it keeps every thing in check. I've put approx 50000 miles on that turbo with no problems.

Watch out for high drive pressure on an HX35 when above 350-360 HP... Going higher than 35-36 psi on an HX35 doesn't give you any extra power. Volume of air doesn't increase above 35 psi...

I'm running a DD HX40, and its absolutely wonderful. Gave me a 31 HP gain over my stock HX35. Right now I peak out at 36 psi and 1150° EGT. 405 HP from injectors, turbo, and EZ box.

Yep and you are generating more unessesary intake heat as well.

Waaaay too hot to be anywhere near efficient. Remeber, boost does NOT always equal more power. Check out a book at the library about turbochargers and temperature efficiency... Basic thermal dynamics! Wooohooooo! :D

I'm running a PDR 40/18 @ ~45-50PSI. It is doing a good job supporting 450HP. EGT"s are consistently high. The turbo doesn't spool well untill 1,100* and 1,800RPM, but that is to be expected with an 18cm2 housing. Once the turbo spools it will hold the EGT's down until the RPM starts getting up beyond 2,500RPM (WOT).

hmm, my local library has books on how to cook roadkill, not fancy schmancy turbos. Guess i'll just dremil the turbo blades for more air flow.

But I intend on changing it, and have for a long time. maybe the last 3 years. but it aint blown up yet, so its till there.

Thanks to all that replied. I am still trying to decide on which turbo to upgrade to. My PDR-35 just doesn't handle WOT very well on the upper power level. Switching to a 14cm housing helped but still gets too hot for me. Just gotta make up my mind now.
