possible to do an engine transplant???

I have access to 7 rebuilt INLINE pump 4 cyl cummins turbocharged air to water cooler motors. The motors would need a altenator, flywheel, motor to trans plate and starter. Who is interested? I helping a friend with these.

I am assuming these are actually for automotive applications? DO they have a tier 2 emissions placard?

I know of a few folks looking for these. Too bad you can't post price out here in the open, it would probably show just how reasonable/unreasonable the amount is as well as eliminate you having to do a bunch of PM's or emails for it. Can't see how it would be problem??

Tier two

Had an automotive engine in a chevy truck. Never had anyone ask to see the placard. Probably not the same in all states. The placard may not be correct either. (Just get a placard??)

The EPA is even getting involved in Montana these days. It is no longer a California issue. Main reason I look for the placard on the engines is for having the truck inspected and relabeled as a Diesel engine in the event you have Smog laws or related issues in your area.

The way the rules are getting these days with the Emissions laws, I would definitely want the placard if only for peace of mind a few years down the road when we all might be pulling into smog shops like CA has nationwide.

Other than that as a reason, I could care less about the placard, it is easier to know which pump you have, as well as wha parts you need sometimes.

This is another reason, why I don't like excessive smoke and believe that we can produce awesome power without resorting to plumes of afterburning soot.

As fun as it may seem to some, unfortunately, it just attracts the attention of the lawmakers who'll tout it as a justification.

It reminds me of when I used to smoke (cigarettes) and insisted on my rights - then I gave up and realized that whilst I chose to smoke, others around me couldn't easily choose not to inhale my secondhand smoke in most situations.

I have no objection to a brief smudge as the turbo catches up, but a black fog cloud will only lead to yet another nail in the coffin of our current diesel driving (relative) freedom.

Just think how much more power could be extracted if all of that partially burnt fuel you see in the smokeout pictures, was instead burnt cleanly in the engine and mostly turned into crankshaft and turbo energy.

I say, save the black fog for the drag strip and racing venue, but keep it clean on the road - you never know which lobbyist/senator/law maker may be following...

Emmissions Placard

What is a Tier 2 Emissions Placard ? I have a 1999 4BTA Cummins Recon. The only placard on it is the engine ID plate with cpl # etc.

Thanks
