:{ I locked myself out of my truck. I tried the coathanger to no avail. Luckily,Cousin had a lock out kit and he was home. WHEW. I WISH Onstar was in Chrysler's too! I'm ordering the Service Manual on CD. Started to order a lock out kit but it would probably be locked up in the PU!

Any tips or previous experience in case I should do it again before I can get a spare key made for my wallet? Thanks Oo.

I went to home depot and made a standard key and hid it on the truck. It helps me get back into the truck for when I lock my keys inside :{ but it wll not start it as I have the dodge security system ;) . (all it does is just spin the starter but no start).

Good luck

I just locked myself out for the first time in a LOOOOOOONNNNGG time, ... right at the docks in the L. A. harbor of all places !!!! Thank God AAA was only 20 minutes away !!

Like stated above I have a standard key in my wallet so even if my wallet is lost at least they cannot start the truck...

Left the keys on the front seat and the dog stepped on the remote locking herself in the truck. The first thing that I do on any new vehicle is hide a magnetic key holder with spare key inside.

first week that I had my truck It was early on a saturday to go mountain biken... stopped at the local mini mart to get some water and viola... some how I locked it WITH it running... . ask the dude behind the counter to call my wife... he did but hid when she came to give me the extra key..... needless to say... I see why he hid and i will NEVER lock myself out again... (wifes got a mean right hook :D )

Smart, smart you guys! I'm gonna run out and get a 'dumb' key to hide in case I get locked out. It's just a matter of time... .

One of the many things I really like about my Ultrastarter remote starter is that when you trigger ithe turbo cool-down morde or the idle without key mode it first unlocks ALL the doors and won't let you lock them with the power door switches. You have to use the remote to lock them once you exit the truck. If it wasn't for that I would have locked myself out at least once by now.

Duck tape a flat key someplace. Have used verticle and horizontal surfaces after cleaning thoroughly. I've used it years later. Never lost a ducktaped key but lost 2 magnetic boxes before I gave up on them.

I have a spare key under my rear license plate. I drilled it out and put the plate bolt threw it. I can use a coin to unscrew the plate if I need the key. I have been doing this for at least 20 years. I have only had to use it once or twice and it has never been found. At least, not that I am aware of. I am sure, if you are creative you could find other places to secure a key to your truck in this manner.

I have two working keys for my truck and 2 fobs.

I only carry a key with a fob for normal stuff and I removed the fob from the other key so I could carry that key around for when I lockmyself out.

I just keep the other fob at home.

I like the idea of a key that won't start the truck, I might get one of those and keep it somewhere. I have lots of spots to keep stuff since I have a couple bed boxes in the truck.

I did it as well when the truck was two weeks old on Lackland AFB in San Antonio. I was a little hacked at myself. Brand X was nice with the keypad on the drivers door. I got a ride to the local dealer who cut a door key for me with the VIN for 8 bucks. The truck will start with it, but turns off after about 3 seconds. I have wired the door key to the chassis in a hard to find spot.
