To Women From Men Who Have Had Enough:

New acronym thread

Now that a 10 year old boy has been killed by a shark, in an area where sharks aren't usually seen, I'm beginning to wonder if our govenment has been dumping mad cows and sheep in the ocean. That might account for an increase in shark frenzy.

Doc

Maybe the fish are just starting to get pissed off about all the crap we dump in the ocean. Bet you'd get biteing mad if someone dumped their trash in your home.

I haven't figured out why people go swimming in shark infested waters anyway. My son wanted to go this weekend in a freshwater lake. One of the locals told me there is going to be 1700 alligators trapped before winter. Boy did not go swimming and dog did not get close to the water.

Hmmmmm - why is it that in the warmer climate states there's all sorts of poisonous spiders and snakes, and fish and reptiles that eat people? Maybe it's a sign that we shouldn't be living down there - or mother natures way of limiting the population! Up here in the cold north we hardly have anything poisonous or man eating (heck, even the bears we have in Michigan are pretty small) - guess there's an advantage to living where it gets so darn cold. :D I'll take my snow thanks!

LMAO - That's a good perspective, Steve. Guess I'll quit griping about our cold weather and snow. One thing to think about though... the cold can kill ya too.

Doc

Yeah Doc, but it's a dry cold;), down here we get humidified. Plus you guys get bigger skeeters up north, at least way up north.

It seems to me that the animal rights activists have screwed up again. Because of them, the sharks have become somewhat protected and I feel that when you allow preditors to explode in population by protecting them and there is commercial fishing involved, the lack of food is probably accounting for some of this.

Or there have been attacks like this for years and the media is jumping on the bandwagon for some reason and reporting every attack.

Question for Steve or Doc

You guys have trouble with those snow snakes up there? I hear they crawl up your butt and freeze you to death.

Animal Rights Groups & Sharks

Well no one can blame me. I did my part for shark control. I own a nice pair of Acme Sharkskin boots in 12EEE. :D

I wonder if this new Red Tide thing has something to do with all these shark attacks? I heard on the news this evening that all along the Florida coast red algae is blooming and pumping poisin into the water killing millions of fish.

There are 3 million plus sharks killed every year and only an average of 12 humans per year killed by sharks worldwide. Easy to see who is winning.

Perhaps we can assist the animal activsts in their quest to save nature... ... ... .

Lets load a bunch of them in a boat and sink it off the Carolina coast. :D

They shouldn't object to this plan, as their sole purpose seems to be to protect, and serve wildlife. ;)

Boy there are some weird animal attacks all over the world. Here's a weird one:

OCTOBER 21, 12:29 EDT

GAUHATI, India (AP) — Wild elephants broke into a cluster of thatched huts, guzzled rice beer fermenting in casks and then tore the village apart in a drunken rampage, trampling four people to death and injuring six, a wildlife official said Thursday.

The herd of 15 elephants descended Wednesday on the village of Prajapatibosti, 180 miles east of Gauhati, state capital of northeastern Assam, elephant expert Kushal Konwar Sharma said.

The elephants broke into the thatched huts with their trunks and then began drinking rice beer from casks, Sharma said in a telephone interview from Golaghat.

``After drinking the beer the elephant herd became intoxicated and went on a rampage, trampling to death four members of a family,'' he said. The animals trampled rice paddies and more huts before leaving the area Thursday morning.

At least 100 people have been killed in elephant attacks during the past year in Assam, where 5,000 wild elephants are estimated to be living. Human encroachment and a shrinking forest habitat have been the main causes of the problem, Sharma said.

What about these boneheads that pay to dive and feed sharks? I think this is part of the problem in that the sharks get used to coming towards humans for food. I think it's just thining out the herd. Go sharks!!!!
