For all you guys running a fuel pressure gauge, what kind of #'s are you seeing @2000rpm?

22 psi on both trucks

Mike, I installed the gauge on my 2500 when it was about a year old, it has remained the same while running. One thing that has changed though was before the pressure would stay at 22 even after sitting overnight unless I turned the key to open the solenoid without starting, then it dropped to zero. Now it drops to zero in a few minutes, I think the overflow valve isn't holding as well as it used to as I can see no leaks. I don't think it's any big deal.

I had one on for 15 miles and it idled at 22 and around 30 on the road. I noticed it hit about 32 whenever I'd let off the throttle and drop to 27 or so when nailing it quickly. I used a 30lb dampened oil press. gauge. I might try a higher glycol filled gauge sometime. Craig

The psi dropping after shutdown might not attributable to the overflow valve. I just installed a new overflow valve & my psi readings exhibit the same pressure drop after shutdown.

On the psi rating,I just recieved this email from Powermaster @ Cummins:
"The pressure relief valve on the P7100 pump controls the pressure. You should see about 25 psi at rated RPM at filter in. It is a piston pump and the pressure does fluctuate very much. Your gauge must be equipped with a needle valve to dampen out the pressure peaks for a good pressure reading. No idle reading is needed. "
I also called Cummins to confirm this.

I absolutely do not understand why Mark at TST says psi s/b 28-36 @2000rpm. I emailed him twice on this. That is what had me perplexed...

So, according to Cummins your fuel psi of 22(outlet filter side) is probably fine considering pressure drop from filtering. Just as long as it is at "rated RPM".
I raised my pressure from 10psi to 24psi (outlet filter side) after replacing the overflow valve & was considering a new lift pump but 86'ed that plan.

On another note, I replaced both rubber gaskets (top/bottom) on fuel heater element & noticed considerably less blue smoke on startup & upon acceleration.

What power does the #11 make on the 97?
Do u monitor EGT?
If so, what #'s do u see coming up towards the Divide on I70?
