Edge Juice and 50 HP or so Injectors on an 04

Just wondering who is making 500+ hp on straight #2 and what your doing to get there. I live in Utah and edge has a truck set up just like mine with the exception of mine being a 6er. With basically the same setup minus the ez their truck is at 460ish HP, so I figure mine has to be close to that. I would like to get over the 500 hp mark and wondering what else I can do.

thanks

Twins and injectors, in maybe 3-4 months I'll let you know.

OOOPS forgot the studs to hold the head down with after the twins.

I was at 500HP with a TST, EZ, decent intake, 4" exhaust (straight-thru), and a single 'charger (DD Jammer, specifically). I'm a little more than that now (not sure exactly how much - need to get back to the dyno). In a few months, a cam and a set of injectors should get me well into the 600HP range.

I know:

Sradke

Moolie

MikeS1

(lots more, but that off the top of my head)

And my self after the new charger should be over the 500 mark

I think TST/EZ/AFE/exh plus big single is pretty much a 500hp combo no matter what you do, keep in mind you may need a pusher pump, and of course a transmission to hold it

EDIT - AFTER reading your post over, i did not really answer your question, maybe try Don M's injectors. . plus jump up to the SP66 turbo

Hot Juice and attitude laid down 454 rwhp on a 03. upgraded turbo though I believe it was a B1. I just sold a HOT Juice and attitude along with a EZ to a customer of mine in Pocatello ID his truck is a 05 I will post his feedback

You'll need at minmum a turbo and duration box. A little pressure would help too but not too much.

Tomey,

Since your in the truck business what have you heard about aftermarket injectors on the 600's. I've heard not to do them because their having injector problems. Do you know of anyone running injectors on an 04. 5-05. I wish now that I had an 03.

thanks

I know DieselDynamics are to modifications to your stock injectors if you send them in... Other than that I do not know

I DO KNOW though, that the stock injector will take you over 500hp with the right combo of duration, timing, and pressure - And I plan on proving it after the SP 66 on my truck :)

SOO, you may want to hold off on the injector swap until you know your current box will not get ya there (maybe a hot juice?)

EDIT - saw you have the hot juice, with the EZ and some big air, I bet your there! - I would all DON M and see if he has "600" injectors ready too

I did 462hp/855tq with TST/EZ stock turbo, AFE and straight pipe on David Dunbar's Dynojet.

This past weekend I did 488hp/920ft lbs on the same dyno and thats with the current mods listed in my signature.

My stock turbo had the same sized compressor wheel as the one on my B1.

So what do you think you can attribute to the CAM?

Lower WOT EGT's, some better mileage also.

My truck doesnt smoke either. Just a haze on the dyno, not even a puff and thats with the TST twins program.

The TST box box that everyone says smokes so much! 14psi fuel pressure at WOT also.

He's telling the truth! :eek: I even called BS and was ready and waiting to film... ... . NO SMOKE! Not even a haze! :--) :{

Talk about a sleeper! :-laf

I can't wait to get up to about 550hp with absolutely no smoke. :D

tell ya what, I think that may be the next mod for me...

The part cost seems low, BUT I do not know of any techs around here good enough to do the job (and not charge an arm and leg to do it)

Does the engine sound different??

Yeah, you will notice a difference.

More valvetrain noise (not alot though).

The engine seems to run alot smoother and move more air.

That is my opinion though.

The machine work from a one off aftermarket cam (Scheid) is alot more exact than the run of the mill stock Cam that comes out of any regular ole' engine.

Side note:

I think I can come close to touching the 500hp with the stock tires and rims installed on the dynojet.

Only 11. 1hp away that with a 62mm compressor wheel and stock injectors.

With the Killer B2 and same mods I seen on another website 496hp (IIRC) so the 66/SP turbo should do at least 500rwhp no problem.

Jwilliams,

don't you think with the sp66 it would take a lot longer to spool and shouldn't that make your truck smoke? Also what did that cam set you back parts+labor?

Don does have injectors for the 600's, the ones in my truck were designed for the 600's. The failures are primarily occuring in the electric valve mechanism, not the nozzles. It is the nozzles that are modified/replaced when you do injector work.

As for more smoke with a laggier turbo, not really. The computers in these things fuel based on how much boost they see. If you're not making boost, you don't get the fuel. That's why they run so clean.

I believe a cam would be a good mod, definitly on my list behind the twins. I had one out of a 12 valve once, that wasn't a big deal.
