Who's using Delvac 1 (5w-40)

I've been an Amsoil user for a long time with no complaints. I feel it's a very good product.

I however wanted to try the Delvac 1 from Ex/mobil for the winter and wanted to get some comments on it.

I've done some searches here and just wanted to see if anyone had any insight. (Vaughn I know your lurking somehere :-laf )

I have used the delvac 1 in my previous truck. (It was a Chevy. Sorry, I've Seen the light now though) But anyhow, I found that it turned over much easier with the 5w-40 as compared to the 15w-40, especially when the temps really dropped. I'm assuming it was more due to the viscosity change than the brand. I purchased this Dodge new and I have not run synthetics in it yet, so I don't have any data to share on it.

I have used it year round for a little over a year. Truck starts and oil pressure comes up almost as fast as in the summer.



If it was not for the cold climate around here I would use mineral based oil and change it at 3-5 thousand miles.

I run the Delvac in the sprinter. I just changed it at 13,000 miles. (on the oil) It looked really good. Not all black and thick like rotella can get.



The Sprinters require synthetics for the warranty to remain in force.

Mobil Delvac 1

I've got it in my '02 and also a VW Jetta TDI. Like the others said, it starts much better in the cold. I really started using it for extended oil drains as we're RV'ing full time now.

The only thing I've noticed so far is the engine on cold morning starts. Its been getting in the teens here in the rockies/mid-west and I can tell right away there's a lighter oil in there.

I'll be figuring milage from Lewiston, ID to La Crosse, WI and then on to Austin, TX. . From the looks of it the rigs getting over 12mpg pulling a 35' (10,000lb) TT. Total GVW is around 18,000+ lbs. The Jetta, by the way, is averaging over 54mpg. Yea, its sweet!

Mobil Delvac 1 looks to me to be "one of" the best sythetics out there. Is it better then Amsoil, Redline or the others..... don't know. But, I haven't had any problems finding it yet (tip: try a Mobil distributor in your town) and I'm carrying enough with me for a year or more.

I'm going to try filter changes at 6000 miles and oil changes once a year ( 20 to 30,000 miles?). I think enough folks have done that with synthetics that I can do it without oil sampling... .

I think!! If that doesn't pan out I can change plans. Just wanted to get away from the 3500 mile oil/filter change.

Anyway, thats the motive for changing over to a very exspensive sythetic oil.

I run Delvac 1 5W-40 year around. Very good product.

Previously I ran Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 which is a very good product, but my observations put the Delvac 1 a step ahead for year around usage.

I just switched to Delvac 1 from Chevron Delo 400.



The truck seems to run much smoother when its cold and the oil pressure seems to come up faster.



I plan to use it year round.

Delvac 1 - year 'round. Switched from Amsoil 5W30 a couple years ago. I like the colors and design of Delvac containers more than the Amsoil jugs.

I too run the Delvac 1 year 'round. As with the others I noticed easier winter starts and faster oil pressure. Some have said its hard to find, but I can find it in most truck stops and the local jobber has it for about $19. 00/gallon last time I bought it. Oil analysis has been excellent as well!

Been in the ram since 20000. 01 VW tdi since new. 86 VW turbo jetta for 88000 miles on a 214000 engine! Also run it in my Polaris 500 sprotsman ATV. I almost for got also in my 2003 Yamaha 60hp fourstroke outboard!!
