Camaro SS Limited Edition Ordered!

Stick Man Flicks

I loaded Netscape 6. 1 and it seemed to be sluggish. I'm back to Netscape 4. 78.

Is Internet Explorer the way to go ? Or what?

Easy guys, I'm a computer klutz..... Papa Joe

BTW - I think Google is the best search engine. :)

Browser

I too loaded Netscape 6. 1 and went back to Netscape 4 whatever.

I have Explorer and hate it with a passion. Try it Papa Joe, it should already be loaded in your computer.

PJ,

You are probably better off staying with Netscape 4. 7 until they get the lastest version in shape. IE will have you gritting your teeth because it takes about three clicks to do what you can do with NS with one.

I have to use Netscape at work for internal websites, but I have connections in our IT department, so I got IE 5 installed for external surfing. I ABSOLUTELY HATE NETSCAPE WITH A PASSION!!!!!!!! I use IE 6 at home, and I really like it. The increased security features in IE 6 are nice.

I don't understand this "3 clicks with IE to accomplish the same thing with 1 click with NS" comment. What functionality is that?

Anyway, I'll never use Netscape if I don't have to. YMMV

I have Opera 5 for Linux installed on my FreeBSD box (it runs under Linux emulation mode), Netscape 4. 78 and Netscape 6 for Linux (same thing), and Konqueror (has an interesting feature. You can tell it to lie to the site you visit, by calling itself Netscape of various versions or IE of various versions, or Mozilla, or itself) from the KDE project.

I use IE 5 at home on my win95 box. It is the most stable, most extensible, and most user-friendly of the browsers I have.

NS6 is horrible resource hog, slow starting, and slow running. I haven't tried it on a Microsoft platform, but on unix it's unstable as all get out. Sometimes doing nothing more than clicking on a link when a page isn't fully loaded will crash it. I would still be using IE 4. 01 (and patches) for it's speed and stability, if it didn't have a faulty implementation of javascript, which gave you errors when none existed.

I haven't tried Netscape for years but when I did it seemed like it was designed for school kids, maybe that is good for some folks, not for me. Prefer IE, just loaded 6. 0 today, great new features. 6. 0 also changed Outlook Express hopefully eliminating some of the glitches I ran into with it before. OE is hard to beat for e-mail.

I just loaded IE 6. 0 on my laptop yesterday. What did they change on Outlook Express? I like the way outlook integrates with hotmail.

Ken

Thank you gentlemen.

I'm through bucking the system. I'll give IE a try.

PS - Motorcycle question coming soon regarding Ms. Papa Joe... ... ... ... ... . Is this a hook or what!!

I was on the Lexmark site the other day trying to find some information on changing a printer cartridge. Some of the pages would display with IE and not Netscape, and some would display with Netscape and not IE. I had to work both browsers by cutting and pasting URL's back and forth to finally view the page I needed. I guess I don't understand why some web programmers use such complicted code to display such simple information. Maybe just to justify their jobs?

I have both Netscape 4. 7 and IExplorer 5. 0 For some reason the IE is unstable and slow loading. Needless to say, I use Netscape most of the time.

I'll load IE6 just to try the browser and get the updates to Outlook Express which I use and prefer over Netscape mail.

BTW

The TDR Siteguidlines are only viewable with IE. I only get the banner using Netscape. I can View Source and did find a few errors in the tags, but nothing obvious that should prevent Netscape from rendering the page.
