Whats the point of being a member of this group? A group that is supposed to be tight knit and have fringe bennefits, like for instance this forum. A forum that we can disscuss issues and ideas and also warn other members of a POTENTIAL swindler. I purchased a part that was not represented correctly. I attempted to contact this person. The # is now dissconnected. I attempted to locate this person by other means with negative results. I then posted info about my delema to warn others about a POTENTIAL swindler but it was pulled because I was "trying to bait others into a unproductive discussion". I know that the MFG of the product I bought will take care of me. But whats next from this guy I was trying to warn others of??

Will he tell a fellow TDR member that he has a new B1 turbo but its really a smoked hy35????

It totally sucks that you have gotten beat, by a member from this here fine website stings even more! But you do realize that when buying used parts from anyone has risks!! I know you figured you wouldn't get treated like this from a member, but again you do take the risk with used parts... ... .

If the seller is a registered TDR Member then he will loss all his posting privelages until he makes good on the deal.

Yeah but Bob another $35. 00 and another name and people like that can be back in action.....

We can't judge someone because we don't fully know the terms of the sales contract- how was the part represented? as is? used as is? These are legal protective words that these types of people thrive on... ... ... .

The TDR isn't small claims court (or even the peoples court). What do you mean "we don't fully know the terms of the sales contract"?

All that matters is whether the goods offered work or not. In this case, the goods offered (an EZ if I recall the original post) were smoked. Electronics don't get smoked in transit.

All that other stuff matters if the seller can be tracked down and hauled into court.

I bought a BD exhaust brake from a NON member here on the TDR classified ads and got a smoking great deal on it and it came with more than enough parts, short the instructions, but hey whats the fun unless you have to figure something out. I cant speak for the seller who burned you, but I do know many TDR members that are 100% legit and make it worthwhile for me to continue to be a member. Dont count us all out simply because of one bad apple. Sorry about your loss.

Believe me I'm not sticking up for anybody- I personally Hate to see this- But buyer beware always when buying used parts from people you don't know of... ... ... ... ... member or not.

Agreed. Most sellers want payment before shipment, and as a buyer you then sit and wait and hope that something really does get shipped.

But why delete the original thread? If I recall, all it said was (something to the affect) "<name>, you sold me a bad EZ - you said it worked but it is smoked and now your cell phone is disconnected, now I know why"

Guess only the admin can answer that.

We ask that people try to handle it privately and if they can't get satisfaction that way to let us know and we will try to get involved. Robin will do what she can to contact the individual and try to resolve the situation - which isn't always possible. If the situation can't be resolved we won't allow that person to post classifieds in the future. Was the ad in question by a member? If it's a non-member ad we really don't have much control. I can only find one user with that last name and I don't think he's the one - if it is they we should be able to get ahold of him. Having said all that if the person is going to lie about their name and use a different phone number there's not going to be much we can do about that - we can only go by the information submitted as to whether the individual has been a problem in the past or not. RAndrae - please contact Robin at rpatton@ix.netcom.com and let her know the details.

Thanks Steve for the clarification.

How about a forum for posting bad sellers and their aliases. Only mods/admin can post, and only after attempting to intervene as you outlined in your message.

I really can understand the original poster's frustration and desire to keep other members from being burned.

But I also don't know what discussions have taken place between TDR and RAndrae (he alluded to some), so I don't know if he is acting in accordance with, or against previous instructions and advice.

I can say that fkovalski and I recently completed a substantial transaction to both of our satisfaction, and I would encourage others to do the same. However I don't think that I would personally buy from a non-member.

Dont get me wrong here. I dont need to be reminded of the risks of buying used parts. I have bought alot of parts from many people. But this one- the phone # I had for the guy is disconnected. and I cant find him. I was told the item worked and it doesnt. I will get taken care of by the MFG. Mayby the guy thought it worked, maybe the guy lost his phone , maybe a piece off a far off platent hit and killed him I dont know. I was trying to warn / protect other from a POTENTIAL problem with this guy thats all.
