Diesel Fuel Prices June 9-16

who has been stopped

We have quite a mix of buyers here - with equally mixed reasons for Dodge/Cummins ownership. Let's try a poll to see most closely WHY buyers selected whatever year or model they ended up with...

Pick *3* of the provided choices as to YOUR reason for buying what you did.

I bought it to tow the 5er. Wanted power to tow, fuel economy as an everyday driver, and room for me and my stuff. The Cummins with the NV5600 is about as rugged as they come.

This is my third. (one in sig) First was a 92, 5spd QC. Second was a 99 5spd QC 3500. 400rwhp and 900 rwtg. Sold my 99 when we sold the 5th wheel and bought a motor-home, Six months later I bought another due to really missing the CTD.

I do not need it, but can't live without it.

The poll doesn't work for me at all. I selected my '95 Dodge because it seemed to be a better all around truck and it had a Cummins engine. I didn't really break up my choice into neat little categories. The Ford seemed kind of flimsey. The Chevy seemed better than the Ford, but the salesman was really stupid about diesels. I got disgusted and didn't even test drive it.

I think I can beat you all for dumb reasons to buy a new truck:D

sold a perfect 95 2500 CTD 4X4:{ Just so the wife's dog could ride inside:--) payments now till the day I die:mad: but "She who must be obeyed" is happy $$$$$$$$$ later the truck will be like I want it:D :D

I jumped the gun and only voted one category. Power !. . would add Durability and Exterior Appearance.

What I would really like to add is that my prior ride, a 95 PS ate its 4th and 5th trannies 850 miles apart and what F*** calls customer service wouldn't stand behind the warranty on the one that died at 850 miles... They screwed me for a little over $3400...

I bought my CTD because of the great improvements in the past 8 or so years and that they install and warranty an exhaust brake... . not a regret in the world either. .

The only reason I bought mine is because my 2000 had the #53 block and it worried me to death, and am glad I made this decision.

Gary,

You didn't put in the single most important reason!

it is the only pickup out there with a Cummins engine.

I wanted the Ford because it rides better, has better creature comforts, etc... but it ain't a Cummins on the inside.

I had a 96 F-350 dually 460 ci and was really impressed with how much it road like car and still could work like a truck. But man alive, it couldn't pass a gas station for ***T!

At least with the diesel, I can use alternate fuels to lower my fuel bill (with proper attention).

And that Cummins sound, ahhhhhh, makes going to the grocery store an event to be cherished. Odd duck, ain't I? :D

(Gettin' older is unavoidable- thinkin' old is optional-

I originaly had a Chevy Silverado w/ a 5. 7 in it. It was a great truck until I started towing with it. Thats what prompted me to get a Diesel. I was all set on getting a Ford until I test drove a couple 24v CTD. I was way more impressed with the CTD. Plus it was 10-15,000 cheaper and got much better mileage.

So I scraped the Ford and bouhgt my 12v and couldn't be HAPPIER. no problems to date

Greg

I bought mine cause it was across the street from the toyota dealer. I was going to look at a tundra and there she sat. I figured hell. Its an I6 and it gets great mileage. Plus I hear they last FOREVER. If it wasnt for toyota I woulda never bought my first cummins.

I bought mine because it was cheaper than the Ford. I only knew I wanted diesel power to tow my TT at the time, but didn't really know the difference between the two. Now I do!! I sure made a lucky decision. Don't tell my wife, but I think I love my Dodge more than anything in the world.

Decision basis

My CTD is my 1st pickup. I'm very excited. I was seriously think about the Ford. Cuz my '96 Mustang has been a good vehicle, but now with 320K miles, she's ready to be put out to pasture.

The CTD's long life expectancy and reputation for reliablity is what steered me to Dodge. Not to mention the Ram has this "look" that is just the best. It has this aura of power.

I just can't wait!!!Oo.

Price: has never been an issue with me. However, I think that Dodge and Cummins has the best combination of the three brands.

Since I am on my 3rd CTD (see Sig) the reason for my first CTD was the Cummins, economy, and it's durability. The reason i bought my '00 was because I wanted the 6-SPD and the extra ponies that went with it. The reason I bought my '03 was because I could not get over how quite the 3-gen was (my better half likes that part) and after I drove one, how much the 3-gen had improved over the 2-gen trucks. I can say that on the 3-gen I could have checked off more than 3 reasons. I plan on hanging onto this one for long time.

Got tired of changing brown ATF every trip and spending twice as much for gas as everything else put together, on vacations. Craig

Ths is my 13th diesel-Isuzu PUPs, Mazda B2200s, an 83 6. 9 f350, Suburban 6. 2, 85 MB 300td, and the one before my 93, a 96 cummins 25004x4. I love diesels- mileage , longevity, the technology behind them, but a cummins is by far the truest industrial diesel available. I'm trying to buy a 1982 MB 300td with 240k "just to have it". Most of you probably understand.
