Same here. I really would like more space but not if I have to take a ps or duamax with it.

I was going to buy new but got a deal too good to pass up on a year old 01. (That was 2 yrs ago). I don't think it would have made much difference on my decision but I could get a new cummins a good bit cheaper than a new powerstroke or duramax. Of course I priced a lot more cummins than the other two, but priced quite a few of the other 2 also.

At that time if dodge and ford had the cummins, I would have bought a ford, but I would probably buy the dodge now, even if ford offered the cummins.

Drove all 3 makes looking for a better rig to tow the horses with. The Fords felt weak in the bottom end power department and were like guiding a barge instead of driving a truck. I had had bad experiences with my past 2 GM trucks IFS front suspension and knew 3 or 4 guys that had injector issues and other stuff on the Duramax. 144,000 miles later and only 3 lifts pumps and 1 track bar and no trips back to the dealer for anything. I think I made the right choice. We intend on getting a 12 valve dually 4X4 to go along with this truck.

The 02 was bought because we didn't like the new 03 body style, especially the interior. I still don't like the new body style. Although this wasn't the first CTD I have owned..... it is probably the best for fuel mileage and power.

Like JKurley, I've enjoyed owning and driving Diesels for over 35 years. The reason for getting the Dodge, well my oldest son wanted my Diesel powered El Camino. I passed it on to him with the understanding that it wouldn't be sold, at least in my life time! I then went looking for the truck that I have today. I had been watching the 5. 9 since it came out in '83 and was going to convert a pick up with one to suit me, but Dodge beat me to it and the rest is history... ... ... .

Reason #1... ... Cummins is the only real diesel engine offered in a p/u. What's a duramax or powerstroke? Sounds like something sold at adult novelty shops.

#2..... Real trucks don't and will never use I. F. S.

#3..... Friends dont let friends drive Fords...

I bought mine cause it was across the street from the toyota dealer. I was going to look at a tundra and there she sat. I figured hell. Its an I6 and it gets great mileage. Plus I hear they last FOREVER. If it wasnt for toyota I woulda never bought my first cummins.

i was going toyota tundra until my son-in-law helped me see the "cummins" light:)

I bought mine because on that day in March,94 the sun was shining in Juneau,Ak. The Emerald green metalic was like a tractor beam on my head. The wife and I test drove it for 25 miles. The rest is history. I had planned on getting a larger truck in a few years, but that sales mgr. came out on that Sunday afternoon dangling the key. It's only got 123,000 miles on it now,and going strong!

The only reason I bought a cummins, is because of the hellacious problems Ford has with their 6. 0. I just couldn't make myself gamble on that motor, I can't afford to be broke down all the time.

What did you do? Run up and down main st four times. Can you drive 25miles in juneau one way?

it kept calling my name

I had a Dodge 98 1500 360v8 gasser, man was this thing a pig on gas, then put some weight behind it and it wouldn't pass a gas station, only 8-9 miles towing. After that i always wanted a CUMMINS DIESEL for the durability and power. Work would take me by this small town dealer twice a week, there she was sitting in the far corner looking back at me . This went on for about 6-8weeks and then one day i stopped to kick the tires,if its not a 6speed then i'll move on and it was never meant to be. IT had everything i was looking for ,intense blue,4x4,diesel-HO,6speed,quad-cab,everything else is just icing-- WOW. I made an offer and my phone was ringing when i got home ,the rest is history. OH YEAH, i had to buy the little lady her new SUV that she always wanted but i got what i wanted and so did she;) ;) ;)

I bought mine because my previous truck, a bombed 1995 CTD ran over a little old lady's Neon and broke off a 12" phone pole. I needed another truck right away and I wasn't going to settle for anything less than a Cummins. I bought a Dodge Ram because no one offered a Cummins in a pickup. But I love the truck too for it's durability, drivetrain, front axle and coil springs.

I bought mine because it's the only 7000 pound 4x4 vehicle that get's 20 mpg that I knew of. The interior and price are what kept me out of a similar Ford, the fact that the cummins is absolutely awesome is just a bonus.

After joining the TDR, I was pleased to find out that I had made the best choice possible. I had no idea what you could do to a cummins, or that the 6 speed is as stout as it gets. We're wanting to add an older powerstroke to the garage, but we will keep the cummins around for the real work. :D

I bought mine cause I had a 2000 Dakota and decided to get a Diesel. Well I liked the layout of the Dakota so I ended up with the Ram. Knowing what I know now I am VERY glad I did. :)
