I put mine on to get the attention of STUPID drivers who try to cut off a 7000# truck. I can't believe that person driving a GEO metro can be that dumb!

I was approaching a restaurant, where my family was going to meet for dinner, I naturally honked my air horn. My son was waiting for me outside the restaurant. A lady standing next to him stated that "some people just have to always get attention. " As if they could not miss seeing my red Ram dually.

More or less the same reason as you did,i cant believe the whimpy horns they put in our trucks ,what would it cost DC to put in horns that can be heard??
As a funny side note my pastor told the congreagation,he was going to have me park up next to the building and anyone caught sleeping he was gonna get my remote for the door locks and hit the panic button.
Also the look on that kids face that cut within 6 inches in front of me to go 100 feet to slam on the brakes for the red light,he is still cleaning out his daddy's s-10 blazer. hehehe

I did it to piss off all the people who drive cadillacs and do 20 under in the left lane. I mounted mine bumper level to make sure they got the full effect.

I installed mine also for the California idiot drivers who have no clue! Also got tired of being cut off to only have them stop in front of me while I have my 32' trailer in tow, Trust me they work! Also had some fun with a jerk in a corvette acting like an idiot, his top was down on my drivers side and blam! there goes the horns, I swear he had to have stood up in that car!

I put mine in... ...

Mentally only guys, my Grovers haven't come yet and the UPS guy is wondering why I stare at him the way I do #ad

because Dodge gave us a truly inadequate horn for such a big truck. I've had to lock 'em up about a half dozen times because of the same idiots you guys are seeing.

BTW (while I'm waiting) is there an easy way to set it up so I can select between toot for a friendly signal and blast for the deserving?? #ad
Thanks, Papa Joe

And, Thank you, Carl for the group purchase.

Papa Joe, I put a switch (supplied by Hadley) in the line between the air horn actuator valve and the factory horn's 12V supply line (per the installation instructions). I assume the Grovers are set up in a similar way. If you run out of air, you still have the factory horns.

Hadley said to put the switch in the cab to allow the air horns to be switched on or off. I decided to leave the switch in the air horn position all the time as I usually only hit the horn if I need to blast an idiot. The only other issue is the "panic button" on the keyless entry. I don't want to accidently set off the air horns at 1:00AM. My neighbors would really love me and my truck. I think I will disable the pannic button.

I now am thinking of putting an air horn in my wife's Saturn. Idiots don't care who they cut off.

Last year this unconsious female in the mini van ran a red lite in front of me pulling a trailer at about 45 mph. Needless to say her mini van got totaled. I was able to turn just enough to not take her at the drivers side door which would have killed her as the cop said. Did $15k damage to my truck and grounded it for 2 months. I decided right then to get some air horns and did so.

To someone as stock as me (and I plan to stay that way), the only thing I've been interested in bombing is the horn (and maybe adding a exhaust brake later, as needed. But that's not really bombing, I guess). So, who makes the loudest frickin' air horns and how much do they cost? I too hate the idiots who race up to cut you off, and then either turn or slow down for some other reason.

I'd like to have a set of freight train horns. Them suckers would wake the dead. I'd probably have to remote operate them though cause setting them off with the panic button would probably get the law involved. Also, the little chirp when locking the doors would scare the hell out of quite a few people too. Does anybody know if freight train horns would work, or how to get them?

<font color=blue>Welp see this thread : Locomotive Horn

The "actual" locomotive horns I think would be a bit big for trying to mount on your truck.

The freight train 5 tone horns would work if:
1. You had a place to put them.
2. You could supply enough air through 3/4 inch hose.
3. A minimum 12 cfm compressor could be installed.
4. The way the railroads have been running the past year, you could probably find a locomotive sitting somewhere waiting for a crew, got some tools? (sorry kat)
Maybe a 3500 without a bed?

I got'em because I work in a part of the greater Los Angeles area where the street signs and business signs are in Chinese.....

Enough said.

When I get a chance to get 'em it's going to be because of the dumb-@@@ people that drive around in their cars with the windows up, and the radio on while talking on the cell phone and suffering from cranial-rectumitis.

Does anybody know where to put an overhead switch to light off the airhorns like they have in big rigs. I wired my horns so it was just a switch not the horn that lights it off, only problem is finding the switch is hard. Please let me know THanks

Where is the info on the Grover air horn group purchase? I did a search and still can't find it. Help. I know I saw it somewhere.

Thanks,

The OEM "horn" is a squeaky little waste of battery power and is completely out-of-character for the Cummins-powered Rams. Imagine putting a pretty pink hairbow on John Wayne's head; doesn't cut it. The air horns are loud enough to be heard and have the distinctive pitch & sound of a diesel truck, not of a 2000# econo-box.
