New "even lower" sulfer Diesel in 2006?

Are you driving a diesel car or pick-up today? What made you chose a diesel engine option? And what vehicle is most in need of a diesel engine option today?

We'd like to know more about your experiences. Please TELL US at forums. dieselforum.org in the LIGHT DUTY forum.

Thank you.

Diesel engines are more economical, make more power for less fuel and create more torque than comprably sized gasoline engines. They should be offered in every car for sale in this country.

Feel free to copy that statement to where ever you like.

I like the low rpm grunt, and the straight six cylinder sound. Fuel is cheaper and I can enjoy having twice or three times the iron around my skin for the same or better fuel ecomony.

I saw a picture a few months back. A Dodge CTD and a Hummer H2 collided head on, left head light to left head light. In this particular case, the Dodge's grill was recessed about 8-10 inches and the left front fender severely dented. The vehicle was still drivable and made its' way home.

The Hummer H2 was what looked like 10 truck length's behind the Dodge (photo perspective). The left front fender, bumper, various trim pieces and junk trailed from the Dodge to where the Hummer stopped. Trailing water and OIL the whole way. Big puddle of oily water under the Hummer.

Like I said, I enjoy heavy iron surrounding my bod...

Torque is that strange force that puts that little smile on your face. My baby boy told me the other day that he liked that feeling he got in my truck. I was in the 1400 to 1800 rpm range.

I agree 100% that diesels should be offered in all cars and trucks.

I agree and I also bought mine because it doesn't have to pass an emissions test here in Pa.

Truth is, we are steadily losing many of the former attractions that brought us to diesels - they still shine in economy (to a decent degree), and power. But ever increasing EPA and related environmental regs just keep chipping away at diesel "pluses" - diesels are steadily moving away from their low RPM operation and becoming more like gassers - and the gasser engines keep getting better and closing the gap!

My daughter's '93 Acura 4-banger has 300,000 miles of pretty hard driving on it - never had the heads off, and still runs great - and there are MANY similar gas engines out there proving ya don't necessarily hafta drive a diesel for engine longevity! And don't forget the former price advantage of diesel fuel has pretty much evaporated too...

Then there's the issue of readily available replacement components - Ford, GM and DC gasser parts can be had reasonably easily in more offbeat locations - as well as techs to work on them - certainly NOT true on the diesels! Other than oil changes - relatively cheap themselves compared to a diesel - newer gas engines have greatly extended maintenance schedules.

It may take a few more years, but if current trends continue, the question as to "why a diesel" may become a VERY valid one in other than heavy-duty commercial uses! I seriously doubt I would again buy a diesel if it wasn't for my towing use...

other than me just wanting a CTD, fuel is much cheaper. diesel cars/trucks are deffintley more reliable and hold a much higher resale value. all in all i will never own another gasser as long as i live!

Cummins has 7 Main bearings , last time I counted. V-8's only have 5.

Cummins does not have cavitation problems(if left untreated) surrounding the cylinders.

Just a few.

I doubt this individual is even going to come back and read this thread. He didn't ask us to respond to him here, but rather to come over to the other forum he's touting. The first post he's made, and he's soliciting individuals to another forum. :(

I told him to copy my statement there. I didn't say I was going to go there. Heck, I've got more than I can keep up with here.

I bought a diesel because I couldn't find anybody that made stacks for a Dodge Neon.
