I went from a 2000 that got a best mpg of 20. 74

with most in the high 18 to low 19 range all hand calculated. :)

Why does my 2005 only get only 14'S all hand calculated!!!!

Build date was in Dec or early Jan.

I drive the same as before,

same fuel, same time of year,

and can't come close to the same milage help some one,

HELP CUMMINS / DODGE.

How can some 2005's Get 20'S and others 14'S & 15'S

Is there a

PROGRAMING PROBLEM ???? HELP HELP

My overhead reads high by approx 1 mpg. My first tank was 16. 4 hand calc... second tank was 17. 9 hand calc... . about half way through the 3rd tank and it seem like I'm going to get about 17. 5 with this one. I drive about 60% highway/ 40% city.....

Mileage sounds about normal for a automatic 4X4. Don't forget the '05 has a lot more power and much cleaner emmisions than the '00. I doubt there are any '05 4X4 automatics getting 20 mpg.

uh I do on the highway quite regularly, granted it is the open road doing 72ish but I can do 20 if I am not agressive...

When it warms up you see an increase. The front end in these trucks do not diconnect like my 99 did. It is easy to say that @ -40 prob 5 mpg lost trying to turn that front end.

I was out west a week ago and started out in +15C for about 6hrs and by the time I got home it was -25C. This was a total of 11hrs driving non stop other than fuel. You could see it plain as day, the colder it got the more the milage dropped. My old 99 would not have lost any in those same conditions.

What do you mean, the front axle doesn't disconnect?

 2nd Genners front drive shaft didn't spin when in motion like the third genners. Slightly more rooling resistance.

My estimation of your situation : You have 110 more horses to feed; crappy winter blend fuel; and your truck is not broken in yet. Hang in there... . it will get better after you hit 20k miles or so. :D

I doubt BobD's problem would be winter fuel, note he's in Texas. I think they quit running it here in the NW by now at least around here, would guess it's mostly gone there as well.

Keep this in mind when you are comparing mileage.

2wd, 4wd

3. 73, 4. 10

regular cab, quad cab

short bed, long bed

auto, six speed

Empty, partially loaded, loaded, lots of torque, lots of horsepower, light foot, heavy foot, city, hwy, city and highway, frontal area, tire size, speed.

And finally, lies

I'm sure I forgot something, but you get the picture.

I only have 4k on my 05 4x4, 3. 73... . empty I hand calc around 15-16mpg, . 5 off from the computer, 10mi drive to work, 10 miles back... . when I'm on the freeway, shows up to 18mpg so figure 17. 5 actual... . I'm thinking it need to break in more, I could take my foot out of it a little more... . either way, I came from a gasser so I'm pleased... .

I just traded in an 04. 5 that got 13. 5 mpg to 14. 5 mpg no matter how I drove when I first got it was inly gettting 11. 0 mpg. My new 05 gets 17. 5 with only 1200 miles on it. The 04. 5 had the vibration also this one does not. The only difference betwee the two trucks is that this one is a laramie and the old one was an slt. So go figure good luck with your milage.

Electronic devices, different programming, none run exactly the same. 12V or even 24V for that matter with real injection pumps can only run the same. Its based on mechanical principles. New trucks can run different with all the different flashes. Sounds like horse crap to me. Terrible end of the world idea dodge and cummins had

I average 17+ mpg when the truck is empty running between 65 - 70. I can get 18+ if I am pretty easy on it and don't exceed 65mph. My '99 never got this good, so I am very pleased. I have had no TSB done and no mods either. I got one of the first '05s available in October 2004. Oo.

I hardly think it was a baidea, otherwise you would stil only have 250 horses and EGR to make the eco freaks happy... Times change and so does technology; you want to see us get more power down the road, better get used to those flashes...
