Put 11# cam plate in and blocked waste gate. When I floor it from a dead stop. She does better than before but the boost never goes above 23psi. Now when she gets to 55mph an shifts in to over drive the tach drops to 1900 the 30pound boost gauge pegs out (you really feel the seat push you) HITS 90mph real fast.

Now heres the question why at 1900 in every other gear does she act like a dog, this is a automatic. :--)

What rpm are you accelerating at before the TC locks?

If you still have a stock governor, it doesn't matter what fuel plate you are running. The governor will be taking away most of that power above 2600 rpm.

My stock torque converter would hang at about 2800 rpm through the gears and that rpm range is HEAVILY defueled by the stock governor.

A stiff governor spring kit would allow the stock torque converter to pull much harder. But EGT's would get out of hand quickly.

A tighter torque converter allows you to use the power of the fuel plate at lower rpm before the governor robs it all away.

Fuel = Boost. Your stock converter is causing your governor to defuel before it can put the power to the ground.

I'm sure a GSK will help, but ultimately you would want a better converter too.

Iam not getting any where close to 2800rpm:--) My truck is get'n it at 1900 rpm the boost goes wild every Time:D I take my foot out of it.

ONLY in O. D.

FWIW the #11 plate is for the manuals, and if you are running it in an auto, then you are using it in the wrong application. Thanks, Jason

Jodog,

What year truck do you have? What position is the plate at? Before I put the new springs in, I could still get 34 lbs of boost in all gears, it just cut off around 2600 RPM. You may have some really weak governer springs causing part of the problem, the Piers springs are a must have. Also, unblock your wastegate and put in the proper boost elbow. It may save your engine, as the EGT's can go through the roof with a plate and a blocked wastegate. Once you have your engine setup properly, you can go for the convertor. Although once you put the new gov springs in and it revs to 3200 you might not need it as much.

3200rpms man I thought you guys were crazy at 2800!!!!!

This is news to me that #11 is for standard only?

I agree with Extreme1. Maybe trade your #11 in on a #6 and start with it centered. While your working on the pump, add the 3k springs, it only takes and hour or so and is the best bang for the buck. I don't see how anybody with a stock convertor can get by without them. Have you called Piers or TST to get their recommendation? They are both very helpful and can tell you how to get power in the RPM range where you want it. With the stock transmission, low end power not much help unless your TC is locked.
