I know something about automatics but I sure don't know why DC has the auto freewheel when you let off of the throttle. I have driven Chevys,MBZ,Fords, and they all seem to hold back when you let off of the throttle. Why not ours???

I will guess and say that DC probably is protecting their 47RE from the heavy reverse loads that the Cummins equipped truck can produce on the TC and trans, especially under low fluid pressure/no throttle? Just a guess.

I know the Chevy's do, but the 2002 Ford that I pulled my trailer with one time to the dunes didn't hold back at all. . . tach went to idle when going down hills.

What raf2000 sez... . it doesn't really 'freewheel' though; when ya takes yer foot outa the throttle, the torque converter unlocks to prevent slippage with the reduced line pressure, and it just feels like it's freewheeling because the stock converter is so sloppy. There are fixe$. Grab a bowl of popcorn and a six-pack and do a search on... . transmission, or automatic, or automatic transmission, or converter, or torque converter, or DTT, or Suncoast, or ATS, or Dunright, or Goerend, or ... ..... etc. You'll be entertained for hours!

Apologies to anyone that I haven't mentioned. Omissions are a product of a filled-to-capacity mind and are absolutely unintentional! :D
