it took a little while to read. it was funny reading the ford guys fight about why our cummins is better than a powerstroke.
 
Can you believe that guy that said the Leaning Tower of Power and the 292 chevy I6's were crappy motors??? And the 300 Ford was the only good one???

Ever since I bought my Dodge (had a F-250 6. 9) two years ago I have made some enemies on TDS, just because they don't like the truth. When George C made the comment near the beginning about pulling trucks:

Not only do I get whiplash type acceleration, quick and fast RMP for better in town driving, I get something that will pull my trailer like a champ too.



It's not about sled pulling. I couldn't care less which truck may impress the local Jerry Springer fans who attent the sled pulls at the county fair, it's about having the best all around engine in a drivable pick up truck. Cummin's falls far short IMHO. "



Man, its typical of that moron to say something like that. He thinks he's got the best and baddest 6. oh no out there. He should take that girly truck to the fair and see what its like to get his arse whooped!

Looking at other threads on this site it looks like there are still a lot of problems with the Furd 6. 0 trucks. Just reinforces the decision to buy a Dodge.
 
Great read. I too would be very interested in a Cummins I4 in a smaller truck, jeep, or untility wagon (how about a 88 LandRover) - BUT it must have a solid front axle. So that rules out the dakota. Oh, and not in a 'tin can' like my 83 SR5 toyota pickup either.
 
I had an 1980 Ford F150 with the 300 I6 w/ 4spd. manual in high school... ... ... ... ... . that was a tough little truck. My dad still has it and I've been thinking maybe it needs a repower. I think a 3. 9 or a 5. 9 would look good in there.



Infact I've never owned a vehicle with a V engine. Granted it's only three. The Ford, my Dodge, and the wifes Geo (gutless I4 but we wont go there).

I don't think you understand die hard Ford fans. If Ford did install an I6 they would all think it was wonderful and I6 was really the way to go. In fact, I'm being to think that if Ford chromed piles of dog dung and bolted them on the hoods as hood ornaments, they would all think it was beautiful.
 
If the Powerstroke is such a great engine, then how come there are next to no Powerstrokes go in to Rams? There is a load of Fords with BT6s in them. There is no www.rampowerstroke.com. However, there is www.fordcummins.com My uncle had a 7. 3 IDI Crew cab, nice truck, a little low on power. I wish he was ready to sell it when I wrecked my 1989 CTD I had a nice engine for it, But he had sold it for a 7. 3 Powerstroke. Long ramble, Sorry. Moose
 
Just think about the things we take for granted, power, reliabilty, fuel economy. Those poor guys are getting smoked with nothing but a light duty diesel engine on tap. For less than the cost of three soy mocha lattes a day, you too can help fight diesel fuel abuse. Won't you help these poor souls get a real diesel engine?
 
I figured you understood Sonic! No way would I ever say something like that! Sled pulling is sweet, although not for me (too many hobbies as it is). But no way would I put sled pullers and Jerry Springer in the same sentence. Georgy boy on TDS never took back what he said, but later he did actually same something I agree with, the Cummins is for some people, while the PSD is for others. Besides, if everyone drove Cummins, we would not have anyone to make fun of!
