Oh well it was worth a shot and brought up some good ideas.

Yeah we all hope Marco's Smarty wont be detected but im not holding my breath.

Like I said before my dash-mat and rhino liner probably already voided my drivetrain warranty

Twest... are you saying that not only the odometer, but the ECM keeps track of my mileage... DTT changed out my ECM early on with a 49 state unit... my understanding was that it was a "clean" ecm, with no mileage... now I have 2 "different " mileage readings, if thats true... .

I think the point is being missed that the 2nd gen trucks was entirely different than the 3rd gens the 2nd gens does not have all of the microcontrollers on board like the 3rd gens... .

After reading all of these stories about dealers voiding warrentee's I was thinking about buying a seperate ecm and using that one for bombing. I know its possible since people used to buy seperate ones and ship them to marco and he would then turn them into MADecm's on 2nd gen's.

Don't all electronic power adders (downloaders, programers) leave an imprint or change stock settings on ecm's even when you return it "back to stock" have it be # of starts, over boost, ect. that can be detected buy someone who knows what to look for if trying to void a warranty.

I already realize I already voided my entire truck's warrantee buy adding fog lights and Peak antifreeze.

As for all of you "gotta pay to play" and "you are your own warranty station" SAVE IT !!!

Does this sound like it could work for us who only want the added power to be able to tow 55mph up a grade w/o being at WOT at 2800rpm's

Thanks

I agree with cojhl2.

I won't SAVE IT!!! You guys who bomb your trucks and then try to find ways to scam Dodge out of warranty repairs that they DO NOT owe you when you break your truck just amaze me.

Your lack of integrity costs EVERYONE who wants to buy a new Ram more money in higher purchase prices.

If you bomb your truck, be prepared to deal with the fact that YOU screwed it up and accept that YOU should pay the consequences. If you can't pay, then don't bomb your truck.

Don't tell me to just deal with your poor judgment. You are your own warranty station.

Sorry for the rant, folks, but some of these guys need a wake up call and it looks like Dodge is finally giving them that.

This ain't monkey business folks. These trucks are expensive enough without some fellow trying to get more out of his truck than it was designed to deliver, then expecting us to subsidize his bad judgment.

If you want to play, YOU have to be prepared to pay. Not Dodge. Not Dodge's customers.

Oh, by the way, your lack of integrity costs EVERYONE who wants to buy a new Ram more money in higher purchase prices.

If you bomb your truck, take it like a man and deal with the fact that YOU screwed it up and YOU should pay the consequences.

LOL, and what about the integrity of DC failing to stand behind their product when their V6 engines were craping out due to engine sludge?

DC to this day does not stand behind those piece of crap engines and try every way they can to make the owners pay for the replacement engine.

Don't preach about how Lilly white and perfect DC is, they will screw you any chance they get.

What about the transmission in reverse TSB that only makes your horn honk, yeah DC really looked out for us on that one.

Thanks for turning my thread into something I didnt want it to be. I figured some of you would have common courtesy to SAVE IT.

All I did was tossing some ideas around and you had to come here uninvited, and talk all your xxx and then say "ohhh sorry for the rant"

Dont even get me started on the busniess ethics of DC and how they treat their customers. You know im just gonna stop I hope someone else can chime in on my part... .

grrrr

Chill the he** out guys!! There is a fine line between a customer scamming the dealer and the dealer scamming the customer. If you bomb it and break it, you bought it, but D. C has been known to go overboard on warranty denial.

This thread was rolling on the merits/or not of a second ecm and turned into a pooping contest.

No, you save it, your trying to cheat the system and in my opinion not an up front got my back kinda guy :(

Actually, I probably should have avoided this thread - or at least have recognized the topic as to it's clear intended question as to defrauding dealerships and obtain warranty coverage to which we probably aren't entitled - nor do I personally subscribe to the weak excuse that just because SOME dealerships are dishonest, it justifies me to do the same - their behavior doesn't dictate or control mine...

I have a full set of fuel system spares based upon my recognition of the weaknesses our trucks have in that area - and am distrustful enough of electronic engine controls to want spares of those systems as well, since I plan to keep my truck for a looooong time. But not to somehow trick a dealership into warranty coverage I knowingly and deliberately voided long ago...

If it is such a piece of crap, why did you buy it?

When did I say I ever bought a Dodge Intrepid with a 2. 7 engine?

Oh thats right, I never did because I have never owned a Dodge with the 2. 7 engine.

I guess all those people who have had to fight DC are all liars even if it has been proven that the engine design was faulty and did sludge up even when changing the oil per the owners manual.

I just want to say thank you to all the warranty cheaters.

Because of you I pay more for my vehicles.

Because of you it's harder for me to get warranty service done without them suspecting me of having done something to my vehicles.

Thank you for frivilous law suits tieing up our courts.

Thank you for the dealer thinking I'am a crook just because you are one.

Thank you for giving corporate america a more lagitamate reason to screw me over.

Please all you warranty cheaters take a bow, so I can kick you square in the arse.

John, I understand your point... but why give Dodge *** ANY *** room for doubt? We're on the same page... reading the recent posts on this forum makes it abundantly clear that Dodge will "xxxx", as one fellow puts it in an earlier message, the customer, if there's ANY room for doubt.

Yeah from the crap I have read in other current threads going... the diet pepsie I had in the cup holder yesterday voided all my warranties.
DC is starting to sound like a bunch of crooks and I am tired of people posting the "honesty" replys.
A completely stock dusted motor not covered (in another thread)! thats dishonest right there!!!
I didnt realize that there was a good chance I couldnt afford to keep this truck on the road even after making the payments and also spending 2,000 on an extended warranty. My only mod is a BHAF and to be honest I think it will only help me from getting screwed since DC wont warranty the factory POS air box.
No way my BAHF puts any extra stress on the drive train so YES I will remove it, put the factory box back on and lie like hell whenever I need service and I wont feel a damn bit bad about it either.

It's an interesting topic, but I'd like to remind everone to remember the forum guidelines and keep it clean and civil.
