I have always had Dual Exhausts on everything from Model "A"s to small block Chevys. I have only seen one dual system on a Diesel and that was Brad Ekstams truck in TDR # 27. Seems to me if a 4 or 5" exhaust is good, Two 3" would be better. Does Ex. flow not matter on a Diesel or what?

The main reason you dont see alot of dual exhausts on Diesels is they only have one exhaust manifold, not 2 like a V6 or V8. In those applications, they really benifit from dual exhausts since a dual 3" exhaust for example will flow very well. 2 Seperate systems for each bank of cylinders. In our application, a dual 3" exhaust being fed by one 3" turbo outlet is a little overkill. Just like there is no real gain in a single 5" exhaust, a dual 3" exhaust would be like having a 6" exhaust, so once again, there is no gain.

Actually, a single 5 " exhaust has much more flow than a dual 3" setup. Much easier to install also.

If you must have duals, go STACKS:D

Don,

I think two 3-inch pipes will give you only 1. 5 square inches more cross sectional area than a single 4 inch pipe(14 sq " vs 12. 5 sq"). Perhaps not a lot of increased flow for the extra effort to hang two pipes and obtaining a Y-down tube.

It's likely the Y-down tube would cost more than a standard 4-inch down tube.

A 5-inch pipe has almost 20 sq" of cross sectional area. As Todd said a whole lot more flow capability.

Just a thought. I could be wrong. If I am, I'm sure others will cheerfully let me know. :D

I took a good look at where they would have to run today and decided it would be a much bigger install than I first thought. Everything is in the way. I didn't realize a 4 or 5" pipe flowed that volume. Thanks:D
