Turbo pic...

I have noticed a whole lot of guests visiting and a lot of posts lately about "I have a friend and his truck is doing this" type posts. Maybe it is just me but I find this to be a great site. The info here is invaluable, a place you find yourself making new friends and resources, ideas that you may have never found elsewhere. So, is 35 dollars a year out of reach for most people to access this resource?, to cheap to join, want something for free?. I joined in late 99 and still find things on this site that are new, sometimes you can actually help others (a novel idea I know but actually there are people out there that want to help others). So why is it we have more guests than members?.

Dave

WELL, most of US were "guests" when we checked out the site before deciding to join - I sorta doubt many would sign up sight unseen...

There may be lots of guests on a day by day basis - but not necessarily the SAME quests! ;) :D

By all means, guests ARE welcome - but if you like what you see, and want LOTS more, why not join? Oo.

a lot of the guests on big forums come from random web searches hitting on old posts, a site as big as tdr has covered just about everything at one time or another, so when you do a google search (or something like google) about a problem most of the hits come back from the popular large sites

And some of the "friends" we refer to in our posts are actually members themselves. Strange that we might have such friends I guess.

Like many others, I lurked as a guest for close to a year before I joined. Being a college kid who was working on a lot of different brand diesels, I lurked on several forums. Because I own a dodge and I liked tdr the best, I got a membership here and have been very thankful that I decided to do that.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you aren't always using the same computer or don't have your computer save your profile, you may be showing up as a guest even when you are a member. Since I work on a boat for half the year and don't have a computer with me when I do it, I often browse the forums on the library computers without having signed in. If I see something that I want to respond to, then I will sign in.

Another part amybe that the "freind" dosen't have a computer or the ability to figure out how to navigate and post on a boards like this. I have a quite a few friends that have our love for these trucks but just don't go online at all but still need answers.

OK. The main reason I asked this question was that I noticed 300 members and 900 guests online one day. Not actual numbers but real close to a 1 to 3 ratio.

Well iwas also a guest for maybe five minutes, and seen the overwhelming amount of info from the site and its members, ijust could not get the 35 bucks out of my pocket fast enough. It is well worth the money for what you get out of it and i have met some great people and made some great friends, Thanks TDR

Guest to Member!

I was a guest for about six-months as I researched and studied the Generation truck I wanted. Joined when I got my truck, and have been happily addicted ever since :-laf The information, humor, exchange is the best here in TDR. :D I learn something new everytime I log on

Happy New Year everone, and God Bless America.

Patrick.

I too had a friend that would not join and still has not but asks from time to time about his 2nd Gen 2500 4X4. Maybe someday!

I lurked for awhile before joining. Maybe some of the "my friend" posts are from people too embarrassed to ask some questions. I have done that before... :--)

I have always believed "The only stupid question is the one not asked". I guess we all have those stupid, embarrassed moments. I would rather have that moment and get an answer myself. To each his own tho.

I have a friend, yeah that's the ticket, who did something really stupid to his truck, and he happens to have the same year and options as mine... :-laf

I joined the TDR before they had the web site. The TDR had access to addresses of new CTD owners then. Now the only way to find out about them(TDR) is from a member or the web site.
