I have an EZ beta on my 04. 5 "600"

No problems, just a big grin.

Only side affects are trip computer gives a false mileage reading, and the engine dips when it returns to idle from load, not really noticeable.

left side is for storage. ::: x:: is level 5 that has been found in many boxes they claim its been removed from. 6 is gone from the new units.

Do all the boxes affect the trip computer?

I now worry if my EZ box combined with towing has lead to the early demise of my transmission.

Marty- I suspect not, lots of happy tow miles on that transmission, hot shot guys etc. FWIW, I tow an 8500# race trailer about 20,000+ a yr with no issues at all.

I will find out Monday what they find in the tear down. My average trailer weight has been about 10K with several over 13K. I average 65 and downshift on the hills out of 6th. Between the loads, the mountains, the EZ and the PacBrake, I guess I ask a lot of the transmission. Will be interesting to see what they find. I had recently replaced the fluid with Royal Purple... I doubt that would have anything to do with it though.

the other day I put it on my friends ctd which is the same as my truck in every way except for exhaust and intake, and he is now leaking diesel from the engine compartment any body know why???????????? QUOTE]

There are threads where people have mentioned this phenomenon, but I haven't known anyone personally that it happened to. I think it was an issue with the injector line not being torqued down enough, but I seem to remember at least one guy that needed a new line... there's definitely more info on here if you search for it.

I pulled a 9500lb box trailer from slc ut. to wendover nv. and back last weekend, and in a light crosswind I could easily hit 1200 degrees just maintaining my speed on setting 4. I stopped and switched to setting 2, and didn't see my temps go over 1000 except on the one real hill... I have an exhause, the edge, and an EGT... oh and a 2003 HO 4x4 with a shell and a 48re

Must be some small hills! I just towed from Seattle to Yellowstone and back (7500 ft elev. change, not including mtn passes). I consistently ran up to 1200, occasionally 1250 on level 2. I also noticed that while driving around in the park, that my EGTs took quite a while to cool down. Is this due to the high elevation? Next time I tow, I'll try it on level 3 to see how the EGT's do.

And sadly, I do have to report that a 6. 0 outpulled me up a long hill. I think his trailer weighed quite a bit less than my 5'er just based on its size, but he also blew smoke as he was taking off, so he must have been bombed too... ... .

they were 750-1000 feet max..... so yeah, small hills, but also remember that wind resistance is a huge factor. I have towed the same trailer on the same stretch multiple times when stock, and have seen the EGT's vary as much as 250 degrees based on different winds. . and I know a 5th wheel trailer will be even worse in this reguard...
