Hayden has two models that will move enough air. The instructions that come with it advise that you can indeed remove the fan drive and fan. Their fan will do the job on engine up to about 400 ci. They also say though, that if what you want is improved a/c, to leave the OEM fan on and install their fan as a pusher.
#3700 moves 1400+ CFM and costs $79. 00 at Pep Boys. Just bought one to install as a pusher on my truck.
#3710 moves almost 1600 CFM and costs $180+ and is special order only. Takes 4 days to get it in. I choked up on the price and took the 3700 unit instead.
I am now going to construct a module that will read the "clicks" off of the speedo sensor and have it trigger a relay that will cause the fan to auto engage below 40 mph.
I want 40-42 degree air out of my vents all the time, not just when the truck is pushing through 45 mph breezes or more.
