What am I missing? Why do they start with a quad cab if they are going to add a sleeper? It seems like a regular cab stretched for a sleeper would serve the purpose, and it would keep the wheelbase a little more reasonable.

I'm familiar with both of these trucks - I drive for JET also.

The guy with the white truck had it stretched and put the sleeper on himself. I think he was originally planning on a longer sleeper when he had it stretched - thus the space behind the sleeper. Think he had about $2500 in the setup prior to AC. His girlfriend/wife/whatever was driving another truck w/o a sleeper. Pretty good setup for pulling campers.

The couple with the black truck had it done in Oklahoma (I think). It is super nice inside. Think he has had quite a few suspension problems with it though (duh!).

Since you transport RV's, can't you take along a sleeping bag and sleep on the floor of the RV?

No. Most won't allow it. I just have a crib mattress with a memory foam pad on top of the back floor leveling system, and log it as sleeper with my logs. I've not heard of DOT having a problem with it yet, but that doesn't mean they won't. I just can't imagine why they would, what is the difference with a sleeper in a semi, except more room.

Although I have retired this '02, it is still a good little truck. I tried to keep the wheelbase as short as possible. My new '08 is on the trailer... . Dang, I miss that sleeper!!!

OK, I see now that it is the Cab diminsions that won't allow it, and is the reason for the bubbled windows. But how can this company claim they are DOT, not to confuse it with cDOT.

Crew Cab Sleeper - website claim of being DOT compliant has changed some.

"Is the C. C. S. kit a compliant product?

C. C. S. kits are built to comply as best possible with the regulations set forth in DOT regulation 393. 76. "

I take "as best possible" to be NOT Compliant.

Woodhouse Sleeper - have found nothing indicating it is not compliant. If anyone has more info I would like to hear more. I know the DOT feds inspected it and found no problems. Drawback I see is the front passenger seat must be removed to meet dimensional requirement for access to driver compartment. Have wondered if a fold down seat could be used and meet requirement.

Got to keep GCVWR under 26001 lbs due to company policy. Avoids having to have CDL-A, IFTA, more stringent drug testing, etc. Also better fuel mileage with Dodge.
