I can see this one going either way...
We use our truck for towing our Airstream. I can't envision a time where I would ever want a cap or topper.
So much of the "stuff" we stow in the bed could be easier located if it was stored in a RamBox.
The RamBox option eliminates the possibility of using my favorite TracRac system although we could put the kayaks on a Yakima roof rack instead...
Not sure how resale might be impacted 4 or 5 years down the road...
We have found a 2016 Limited in white at a big dealership that we will be heading by on the way home and it has the RamBox option. I'm thinking about it...

It's really a decision depending on how you use the bed. For me, I wouldn't get it because you lose room in the bed.

I'd say if you only plan on using your truck like most people do anyway, go for it. It's a great option. As you pointed out though, it limits you if you ever plan on using your truck bed for a slide-in or are hauling a lot of materials where you'll miss the space. May limit resale, but then again it's a selling point for certain buyers. Probably a wash here.

A friend of mine has it on his new truck. He claims that he really likes it for keeping his tools, etc. locked without needing to add a toolbox across the bed or over the rails.

I looked at the Ram box when we were at the TDR rally in Columbus IN. From what I saw since I pull a 5er the Ram box would not be worth the extra cost. The pin box might hit the inside as the trailer pivots in the turn; this would be the rear edge of the box. I also wonder if you could open the side boxes with the 5er attached. Especially since a lot of user claim reduced clearance between the 5er underside and the top of the rails with the new trucks.

So to me I would not get the Ram box for my needs.

I love mine! Locks with the key fob too! Weather proof, has lights inside. I keep my spare fluids and stinky/wet items in there. Tools, tow strap, ect. It's great. The only down side, when you wash the truck it does hold quite a bit of water that leaves one stupid run down the side of the truck. I have tried to find the source many times and keep drying and drying...

Might be a good use for your leaf blower! I'm pretty sure that I will buy a truck with the RamBox option now...
It is obvious that for our use it is a no brainer!

RAMBOX is the best thing ever. Its so easy to store stuff and dig around in. Good place for a rifle or fishing pole too. I have a small business and keep my tools on one side and supplies on the other. My only complaint, its not to adjustable. There are two rubber pads on each end the can be adjusted, but I wasn't able to adjust the latch for a tighter fit...It doesn't leak or anything, just would like it little tighter..(Smaller gap)

Do they make the Rambox in a longbed? (too lazy to go look at the custom build site).

DJAustin, what pinbox do you have on your 5'er? I've halfway considered them but always stayed away based on thinking it wouldn't work with my 5th wheel. I've had the pinbox hit my tonneau cover rails before. Seems all the 5th wheels these days come with the extended pin box since so many people are pulling with shortbox's now.

For me, every truck I get from now on will have them. Im towing a 33FT 5th wheel toy hauler with my 2014 3500/RamBox.

I really like mine. I tow a TT, so pin box issues don't apply so far. There's a lot of threads on the cummins forum and this one to concerning this. Quite a few people feel that there will be side rail issues with a lot of 5'ers. The way around this is to use a Reese Sidewinder pin box. It moves the pivot point back and eliminates any possibility of rail issues. Makes it more expensive to set up but there's a lot of folks that feel its worth it. I like the idea of the Sidewinder box. Also eliminates cab hitting concerns.

If it were available on the 8ft. bed and I was not going to put a Camper or Camper-shell on the truck I might think about it. But beinga as it only comes on the 6Ft. 4in. bed I would not want it.

I looked at the Rambox when I ordered my 2015. But when I got to looking at the bed dimensions, I found my truck camper wouldn't fit in the bed with the Rambox.
