The early 04. 5's had the problem, that was corrected at the factory later in the year. Yours shouldn't have that problem.

Hay thare strocher, tha tsb is 18-003-06 butt az it waz mentund, it effex only 06 trux bilt up two abut nov 2005.

Yu out in tha 909? I think I we wer in tha same hookd on fonics class.

:D just teazin ya buddy!

Exstroker,

I had these two done to my 06 (TSB 18-003-06 and 18-005-06) and my in town milage went from 14mpg to 17mpg. My towing milage went from 10mpg to 12mpg pulling a 20 foot TT. Running empty at 68 mph I went from 19mpg to 20mpg. Hope this helps. Wayne...

Never mind my sig, I see I have to change it to my new ride.

wanderson,

Have you noticed any negative changes from your reflashes? I've heard of people getting worse mileage or that the flash didn't last and had to be redone. Just kinda hesistant to try it.

Tell me how these will give you better mileage.

Can someone please tell me about the problem that early 04. 5's had that was corrected? Went to my dealer and asked to have my trans fluid, oil and dif fluid changed. The suggested an air and fuel filter. Well, OK. I asked to have the interlock between the shifter (automatic) and the brake pedal adjusted, as it sticks daily. Then I asked for the reflash for milage, I was getting 16. Big mistale $870. 00 for the fluid change, coulden't duplicate the shifter problem and milage is now 14. I could use some help.

If you go along the highway and stop at the foot of the ramp and punch it, you can't see the car behind you for the black smoke, no it's not a 12 valve.

I just give up. I miss my '99 so much.

Walker,

No I have not had any negative changes after the reflash. The shifting on the 48RE is also a little firmer now. I use to have a soft 2-3 shift. Now they all feal about the same now. I have 11,500 miles on the truck ,and 2,000 miles of this is with the reflash. I'm glad I had the reflash done. Wayne...

The flash was for bad mileage/ overhead reading off/ hard start.

Be sure you are hand calculating. I think part of the reflash for the mileage was to advance the timing. Other than that that is all I can tell you. How many miles on the truck? It seems like it takes 30-40k to start seeing some mileage changes. Don't give up

I can't give up, I don't have my '99 any more. Wish I did.

Anyway, here is what I am thinking. I have read about cracked injectors on the early '04. 5 trucks. I have read that Dodge has refused to replace injectors in come cases. I haven't read enough to understand why. I would like to know if thye replace only the cracked ones. Maybe I could try that. BTW, I have 35K on the truck. Anyway, I read that injectors are $600+ each. $3,500. 00 for injectors seems like a large amount of pain to end up with a stock truck. There are vendoes selling +50 HP injecotrs for About $800 exchange. You end up with more horesepower and no cracked injectors. Yes, I am aware of the "I am my own warranty station. " syndrome.

Mathematically, $3,500. 00 for new injecotrs is a lot of money. Could the difference between $800. 00 and having the $2,700. 00 in your pocket for other "repairs" balance out the loss of the warranty? That much money would go a long way for the trans mods that the injictors would hasten the need for. If I have $35K now and the bottom end is solid, this could make sense.

Maybe if it was a little stronger, I might not miss my '99 so much. After I traded it in, the salesman called and said that it was the fastest Dodge anyone in the dealership had ever driven. I just told them that some of my TDR brothers had way faster truckes than I did.

Mileage went up on mine with the reflash. The overhead becomes highly unreliable with the reflash. Never really believed the overhead anyways.
