it came on this am. winter driving conditions. cold snowy. i got to the office and reached under the filter and pushed up on the plunger. fuel came gushing out. light still on. is this normal? is my fuel gelling? thanks. scott.

If the WIF sensor has ice on it, pushing the drain might not clear the light.

Also could be a bad /shorted wire.

check the connections to see if it is rubbing anywhere.

If its the original sensor the wires going into the sensor just before going in to it,the insulation on the wires pull away from the sealed sensor and are bare so any dampness or sweating will cause it to show water in system..... Rick

If the engine was totally warmed up when you opened the filter drain I highly doubt there would be any ice on the sensors. Most common cause is water from a wet road or washing the engine shorting out the connection to the WIF, clean it up and apply di-electric grease. If that doesn't work there many be crud in the bottom of the filter housing shorting the sensor, if you can stand having the light on wait till the next filter change and clean off the sensor, it should be done every time you change the filter anyway.

thanks. it has warmed up and i went out and the light is off. i normally clean it every time. i have 11k on the fuel filter now. i change it at 15k.
