Has anyone ever seen a wif (water in fuel) light on in a 3rd gen truck yet?
Was used to it on after car wash on the 96 sometimes but never the 06.:confused:
Do they even work?

I have never found any water in either of my separators, the one I added or the factory one.

I have had bad fuel one time, truck started sputtering about 20 miles down the road from a fuel stop I had never used before(Haugan,MT. ). It continued acting up until I got home. I drained my separators, no water, I dumped some Power Service 911, and Arctic Express fuel conditioner in and filled back up at Albertsons, where I purchase 75% of my fuel. After a trip to Post Falls, and back to Spokane, about 40 miles from my house, and all was back to normal.

I am sure folks do get water in their fuel, unfortunately my separators(BF1212/factory filter)must have passed it through???

Remember that for the water in fuel light to come on, the water level in the filter assembly must come up to the sensor... . if you don't have enough water to come up to the sensor it won't come on... .

We own several trucks, and over the past 10 years have run at least 2 million miles in both the Fords and Dodges... We've had the WIF light on once in one of the Fords and when we drained it, it must have had only 1/2 cup... .

Never had it come on in 100k on my 93 or 60k on my 03. But then again, I've never found any water in it when I change the filters either.

My '94, '97. and '99 all had the WIF light come on when I went thru a car wash or washed the engine. No water in fule ever but when I pulled the plug out of the sensor there was water, this caysed the light to come on.

I have 2 WIF sensors - the factory model and a Stanadyne sensor on my secondary filter bowl.

To my knowledge, I have never had a drop of water in either separator. And I've never had either WIF light come on. So far, anyway. The secondary separator has a clear bowl, so you can see if there's water in it. I've never seen any water in it.

Lately, I've been partially draining both separators at fuel stops, just in case.

I was hoping somebody would pour water in their's and see how much it takes to turn the light on -

Actually, when I get to the first filter change on mine I plan on ordering the new FS2 shell. It appears that new shell comes with a new WIF sensor. I'll connect the WIF sensor to a shell that's not installed, leaving a shell/filter on the truck. Then I can pour water in the shell and see how much it takes to turn on the WIF. I can also test whether it comes on only at key on, or if it really checks while the engine is running. Anybody else got an empty shell to try? I believe a number of people have already upgraded.

Never had mine come on either but I do make a point of only fueling at places that do a lot of volume. Lucky me the cheapest fuel in town is around the corner:)
