Will the 2001 Kit (Part no. 82206157) fit a 96'?
Mopar4less says they show that it goes back to 97', but has no idea for sure if it will fit a 96'.

Yes and no.
They will physically bolt up. You will need to make a reinforcement for the inner door panel (triangular shaped piece of steel).

The electric connector will not connect as the new ones have heat.

If you are looking at the Dumbo towing mirrors, you just need the reinforcements. I believe they are available from D. C. and come with the mirrors if you buy the kit.

Well, I'm confused now!!!!!
I've since talked to more Dodge Dealers and mail order dealers (try www.magauto.com on your next parts quest, they were $30. 00 cheaper than mopar4less) since I was not getting any replys here and they all have said it will not.
I am not worried about using the power part.

if your refering to the the big flip up style towing mirrors yes they will fit,,just bought a set for my 94,,really like em on my 01,,would be even better if they were electric,,got mine wholesale for $205

I just received a set of X-Mount mirrors. They come with a reinforcement too. The only difference in the "fit" is that the power mirrors have a different electrical connector starting in '97 because of the heated feature. I've gone through this with alot of "parts specialists" who can't look beyond the catalog page to figure out that "gee, it really does fit". #ad

If you are looking to by a set of Dumbo towing mirrors, like **ICEMAN** said, no problem.

Hey **ICEMAN**, hows Maverick? #ad

Hey Extreme 1,
Just curious, why did you get the X-Mounts, over the Dodge mirrors?
Other than the obvious electric/heated feature.

Got the X-Mounts because they are power adjust. I need to see where the rear "training" wheels are in relationship to curbs at fast food places, banks, etc. I pull an enclosed snowmobile trailer in the winter and need to "drive the mirrors around" someetimes when the windows are frozen shut.

The X-Mounts are on their way back the manufacturer for evaluation right now. See my post: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum3/HTML/002983.html
