Hi, I have a 2002 D80 rear end I would like to know if it is plausible to swap that rear end in place of my 2001 D60? The truck was an auto before I converted to a manual and just looking to beef up the rear end. What problems would there be when doing this? I looked at previous threads and had very little luck on this, so any information would be great.

Thanks in advance. Andrew

Your 01 has a D70, the FE is a 60. If the gearing is the same and the 70 has disks then you might have to get longer u-bolts.

This is only true if the 80 is out of a 2500 series unit. The 3500 series are a different width, the 02 2500 with a 6 speed had a hybrid 80. Hope this helps.

You need different plates that go on top of the spring pack, different axle cradles as the D80 has larger tubes. Drive shaft will need to be shortened. Like AKAMAC said some of the trucks have long enouch ubolts, some don't. Where are you located? What rear end ratio? Gonna sell your 70?

I am located in Utah and the ratio is 3. 55. I sold the one that is on my truck and had this one off of the wrecked truck I have.
