I'm considering Trading my 2004 Quad cab short bed SRW 3500 ram for a new 2007 Ram Mega Cab Dually short bed. I have a Pullrite 16k super glide hitch on my Quad cab now with the super rail kit and brackets. Will my same hitch brackets mount on the new Mega cab frame? Or is the frame made different in the mounting area above the axle?

Look up Pullrite on internet and give their tec support a call. I have a srw 2006 3500 2wd Mega Cab and I think it used the same mounting hard ware as a quad cab short bed but I would call and find out since yours is a dully.

I looked it up on Pullrites' website and I also called their tech service. They both say that the mounting kits are the same for my 2004 and a 2006 Mega cab. But they won't definately say it will fit a 2007 Mega cab Dually. I looked at the frame of the dually and everything looks the same. But a mechanic at my dealer said he had trouble putting in a goosneck plate on another Mega cab, because something was different than the older models.

The only Mega Cab issue PullRite made me aware of when I called and inquired for the 07 I have on order is one regarding length of travel for wide bodied trailers. It seems that only the 24K has suficient travel to ensure cab clearance to 90 degrees with the now popular 102 wide bodies... So even though that far exceeds my weight requirement, because I'm looking at wide bodied trailers I'll have to go that route :(

Got the 16K on mine and no clearance problem at all. See my sig for details of what I'm pulling.

Made the trade

Thanks for the replies. I traded my 2004 Quad cab SRW for the Mega cab DRW Friday. I then installed my pullrite hitch Saturday. Everything fit perfectly. I didn't even have to separate the hitch from the super rails. They matched up with the holes exactly.

Man this is a big rig. Won't be getting a parking spot next to the front door at Walmart, now.

I have the 24K slide. Much of how much clearance you have in a 90 degree turn is also determined by where the pin in your pin box on your trailer is in relationship with the front of your trailer. Most of the newer 5th wheel trailers have a extended pin box which places the pin (and thus the pivot point) several inches in front of the trailer. This will give you much more clearance in a 90 degree turn. Some of the very largest and heavy trailers still have the pin behind the front of the trailer. I think maybe King Of The Road maybe one of these.

Glad to hear it went great. Happy camping!
