Will be swapping out my non-Infiniti speakers, have a few questions...

I will be swapping out the factory CD player for an Alpine 9855. For speakers I am wanting to install a set of 6. 5" components in the front door. Brands I am considering are CDT, Focal, Diamond Audio, and Rainbow. I figure the mid/woofer will be pretty simple to swap out, but putting the tweeter in the door will be a bear. Any advice on this? Also, should I keep original speaker wires or run new one's, and if so how difficult is this? For rear speakers I will get a coax of same brand for fill. Not planning on a sub.



Thanks for any advice, I know very little about car stereo's, other than I'm not satisfied with the factory setup!

The new Alpine headunit will probably not put out enough power to make new speakers sound good. You may want to consider an amp. As for speakers, I assume you know that the fronts are 6x9 and installing a 6. 5 will require some fab work. I made my own plates to accomplish that and then installed the tweeter in the dash in the factory location. I had to make mounting plates for there as well (new tweeter was much smaller than factory). Since you don't have the Infinity system you don't have tweeters in the dash, but the space is still there. That front part of the dash by the winshield just pops out.

If you haven't already bought the head unit and don't have a buddy that works a car stereo store that can get you a killer deal, I would suggest ordering it from crutchfield. Their prices are very competitive and they include all the mounting hardware (dash adapter, wiring harness adapter, antenna adapter) and a very thorough Dodge Ram installation instructions that cover all the speaker locations (how to remove the door and dash panels without damaging them.



The Alpine unit will sound a lot better than the facory radio but the addition of an external amp and sub woofers will make a huge difference. Have fun with it!

I vote Focal, with a 4-channel amp, like a 100x4 or so



Yeah, thats the ticket. And make sure you use the front dash hole for the tweeter in the component set

Dixie Dawg, I just pulled out my entire system as I am selling my 3rd gen. Ill pm you also. **Polk audio components plus rears. I also have a custom built sub box w/subs and 2 amps. I also have a Blaupunkt head unit . . This system kicked a**. It was in my truck for 2 months, so needless to say its like brand new. I even have the plastic plates I made to put the Polk tweeters in the dash as the factory mounts are way to big... let me know Ill hook you up . .

It's not really hard. Take a piece of 1/4" hardboard and cut it out to cover the old 6x9 hole. A 6. 5" mid and tweeter will fit on the board right next to each other. Just cut out holes, mount to the board, screw the board to the 6x9 hole and you're done.



P. S. You need a sub. At least a small one.
