I am looking to get some DDII injectors for my 03 I am wondering from all the people who have manual trans. and gone the bigger injector route for more power, did this get ride of the turbo lag? When I am not towing and starting in 2nd gear my EZ LVL4 doesnt kick in til around 18/1900 RPM then gets it hard right into redline I am wanting to get quicker p. u. at lower RPM. So for all here that have man. trans. please post your observations before and after injector upgrade and what size injectors you did and would you have done anything different. Thanks Robert

I just got your message and will be calling in the AM.

To answer a couple of questions for you:

1 DDII injectors give a great bang for your buck. You probably wont feel much difference from 1000 rpm's to 1700 rpm's. After that it will pull real hard. I run heavy loads all the time. If you add more fuel (bigger injector) you will not spool faster. You will take a little longer to burn more fuel. But once it has started to burn it will pull harder than ever before. I think that the DDII's are better money spent than an EZ. They are there all the time. Our trucks start building torque at around 1800 r's and pull to somewhere around 28oo rpm's. I really don't know what you could do to get it to spool quicker. Maybe do a power brake and build a little boost and then take off... . ?

Hope this helps a little. Greg

I am in the same boat you are. I live here in Sacramento and have an 2003 SO model. I have an AFE intake and a EZ on level 4, and just put in a X Monitor. Next I am putting in an exhaust. What exhaust system are you using? I was thinking of a Banks exhaust. I also ... . down the road... . want to put in DDII's.

I only replaced exhaust from turbo back to muffler since after muffler is already 4" and put in a banks 4" muffler it did not have the drone noise like some smaller overall diameter mufflers. I had 4" banks on my 98. 5 cummins and liked it.

I like my DD3 injectors. I do a 1500 to 3000 rpm test in 4th gear, to see any difference in anything that I did to the truck. I start out at about 1100 rpm and put my foot to the floor, when it hits 1500 rpms I start the stop watch and hit it again at 3000 rpms. My truck starts to pull hard at about 1500 rpms, and as the rpms go up it pulls harder. It pulls the hardest between 2500 and 3100 rpm. Go with DD3s and DD turbo and you'll be:D :D :D .

BTW, stock 1500 to 3000 was 15 seconds, now 7 seconds. :D

I was just talking about this to a friend last night. I have DDIIs as well and run around with the EZ off 99% of the time. I too noticed that there's a lack of bottom end power. Remember that even with the EZ we are still running off of the stock fueling curve. It really seems like not much happens below 2000 rpm to me. I remember the EZ on my 02 really waking that bottom and midrange up but that was a different animal altogether. I think that the new boxes such as the TST I'm waiting for, will really make the truck come alive. That torque adjustment that makes fuel come on more in the low end sounds like just the ticket for curing this little issue.

I see you ordered your injectors. What ones did you get? I am going to basically do the same thing but have to wait for the funds (wife thinks eating is more important... I don't get her). Let us know know they work.

I have a set of Jannetty's injectors in my '03 and it really woke it up even off Idle on up through the rpm. I like them , not sure about DD's stuff but I'm sure they are as good as the rest of the stuff I have seen from them.
