I have an 05' with the cat gutted and a magnaflow muffler I am wondering if I will have any problem with passing emissions? I have to get them this month and I am a little worried about it.

I am located in Bountiful, UT. The bad thing is that the testing is done by the County on diesels so I have to go to them and I don't know what will happen if I get caught for gutting the cat.

Well let us know. When they removed mine I put it in the garage just in case it is needed. Can easily be welded back in. Currently Texas is not doing that type of testing on diesels to my knowledge.

Depends on your state idea of "emissions testing"... in PA, as long as it is on there they don't care... I am sorta lucky at the current time... I took mine off and went full 4 inch front to back (yeah, I know... it was already 4inch)... they said the 04s "didn't have a cat"... since mine was a late 04 (600CTD) they didn't even look, but they would on a 05.

In all honesty, I don't really think I saw any improvement in removing it... my only concern was after cruising for say 400 miles on the interstate, it would smoke like the devil if I stomped on it... it no longer does this and I attribute it to the cat "plugging up" with soot during cruising speeds. I know it didn't seem to affect the fuel mileage any.

My '95 had a gutted cat from '97 on and passed every year. Don't worry about it. Tha cat does nothing for particulate emmissions and that's what they test.

Twimmer, do not worry,,, you will pass the visual and the inspection... If your truck is in good running order,,, just run her strong before you go into the inspection... and the rest will be history... .

Stock electronics, just no cat, I notice a small loss in low end (pre lots of boost) acceleration. Once boost kicked in, it was a bit quicker (to spool as well). Low boost fueling fixes this, and then some.
