Guys I want to know if a HO VP44 pump will work in place of a std vp44, the one i found is a 01 or 02 year HO pump and my truck is a 11/99 2k with a auto trans std emissions. what I need to know is will other pumps work or do I have to get a 2k year pump made for automatic? any help would be appreciated!

from what I have read, the HO pump will not work on a SO truck, as the ECM is different, just like you cant use a SO pump on an HO truck. Now I could be wrong, but I swear that is what I have read and heard about on this issue.

Yes You can use the HO pump on a SO truck. You will see an increase of aprox. 20 hp.

The ECM'S are different from HO truck to a SO truck, but you do not need to change

ECM'S when running a HO pump on an SO truck. The HO pump delivers fuel at a higher

pressure, creating better fuel atomization. If you are already, or plan to have HP levels

past 500 HP the SO pump will be superior, because it has the capacity to deliver more

fuel. If you are planning to have HP levels below 500 HP the HO pump works very well.

I have a SO 5 speed that I have been running an HO pump on. When I installed the HO

pump I imediatly noticed better response & mileage everything stock.

I was then convinced by others to put an SO pump back on telling me that I would actually have better performance with the BOMBS I made, COMP box, 4" exhaust, ATS intake, HTT exhaust manifold, High flow intake. With the HO pump This combo gave me aprox. 375 HP, and 8 second 0-60 times, shifting! With the new SO pump My mileage has decreased, 0-60 9. 5 seconds, level 5x5 on COMP now feals like level 3x4 used to feel. Any way the HO pump will work for You very well if you are below 500 HP, and you will be happy.

Agree with what is said above, the HO pump will work on a SO, just not the other way around.

Same goes for the power... ..... you can get to 400 easy with the HO pump, but it will not push a lot of fuel hense is why the SO pump is better for BOMB's.

To follow, can I change (reprogram) my ECM to be an SO ECM and then use an SO pump. ?

Easier to buy the HRVP44 and then you have it. I was on the quest looking for a 01 ECM from a 5spd truck... ... ... ... well I went the other route and just bought a VP... ... ... didn't need one, but just thought I should have it.

there are issues with the HRVP that you may have to deal with too.

There are issues with everything Bob... ... ... ... . would you not think there maybe issues with doing the ECM swap? One to make sure you get the right one... ... ... . remember when I ask you about it you had not a clue what your ECM's were out of... ... ..... so I left it at that... ... ... ... . not to take the chance to have the wrong one in... ... ... you are so quick to judge things.

Please inlighten me Bob with the issues of the HRVP that you know I sell... . what can basement Bob tell me that I already don't know?

Hey Bob, What kind of deal cn you get me on a Smarty box for an 01 Cummins. . He has the Hot Rod VP44 and is having a huge problem with surging. .

Thanks, Steve

He is complaining that, especially when towing, when he is decelerating, the surge almost overcomes his brakes. That was his biggest concern, he has a lopy idle, but he doent mind it much. .

What is that?

Hey Bob I have no lope, I am aware of the lopey idle. Nothing new... ..... plus I would not ask you for a deal on a Smarty when I can sell them. Nor is my name Steve, and speaking of Smarty's you ever figure out that you may need to disclose that the lower fueling aspects can destroy a built transmission to guys that have autos, if used on higer levels because line pressure in the trans is not fully achieved yet?

So please help me with the post above... ... ... you are confusing me and sionce you do not want to respond in PM's behind the sceens then lets bring it out.

Hey Bob thanks for reading, later Jim.
