2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Will newer 17" rims fit my '98 twelve valve?

I need new tires on my 1998 Dodge 4x4 truck. I see cheap 17" chromed steel stock wheels and with stock 265x17" tires on Craigslist for sale. These are stock takeoffs when the owner got aftermarket sets. Will this bolt on to my truck? I plan on looking at some from a 2007 and a 2004 truck this weekend. Seems like an easy way to get new tread without going to a tire dealer. thanks. Herb

they should fit for sure! its a 17" rim so you have even more room on the I. D.



I think most issues are with the aluminum rims(99-02) on a drum rearend

I tried a set out on my '97 off of a friend's '06, the offset is different, but they did fit. Two reasons I didn't get them: the offset sucked everything under the truck and looked stupid. There was no way to get a set of chains to work on the front tires with out them hitting something when I turned.

I was wondering about the offset. The photos look like the rims are more positive offset(flatter faced). I do use chains on the front to go elk hunting. I'll have to give this some serious looking. Thanks. Herb

yeah, the offset is huge! They will fit, but if you have a steering setup that uses Hiems (like mine) they will hit at full lock. With out some fancy wheel spacers, I dont see a chance at getting them to work with chains. I sold my Powerwagon wheels I had due to this problem, the passanger side heim would hit the wheel.

I have a set off an 03 on my truck. The offset looks fine to my eye, although I have not tried to run chains on them yet.
