Need help - Have 2000 2500 Quadcab 4x4. 5. 9 diesel. Just pulled in the driveway running fine shut her down went out a few later to start her and she has juice everything starts out fine when I turn the key. Clutch it (its manual 5) turn and nothing not even a slight turn any ideas or ways to check I flipped the switch and I get P 1682 and P1693 whatever they mean? Need help badly.

Thanks

Look in fuse panel under the hood. There is a fuse I think 20amp for the starter. Try replacing it to get it started, then drive to the nearest shop and get a starter. Mine did this last summer. I was able to replace the fuse a few times before I got around to replacing the starter then all was well again.

Hey Thanks a million guys it seems that it was the fuse under the hood I guess I should be prepared to change the starter. Have a great day - Thanks Again

"Will not Crank"

I just experienced the same symptoms with my 2000: The truck started just fine in the morning. When I attempted to crank it over 4 hours later, nothing, not even a "click. " I checked the fuses and found the 20amp starter fuse blown. I replaced it and it immediately blew again when I tried to crank the engine. At that point I had enough information to conduct a search on this forum (20amp fuse starter). BINGO, I immediately found this thread! The problem described matches mine to the “T. ” I pulled the starter off and checked the contacts. Sure enough, the contacts were worn. Worn beyond the photo shown by Thomas ( https://www.turbodieselregister.com...152704-truck-keeps-blowing-starter-fuses.html ). I just order a new set of contracts ( Foster Truck ) and expect them to arrive in 5-7 days. I am positive that they’ll fix this problem. Thanks “everyone. ” This forum made it “easy” to isolate and correct the problem.

Maybe the clutch switch?

I second the clutch switch as mine was iffy for awhile then would not work at all. I did not replace, bypassed instead, GOT TO REMEMBER THAT BEFORE TRYING TO START!!!

Second choice would be the starter solenoid contacts.

Third choice for awhile the disable where you need to cycle the unlock on the key fob. The box that does this stopped working right and would not close the switch in this security feature and allow starting.

Good like all easy fixes just a matter of finding which one is the problem.
