After adjusting front band trans will not shift out of low. Used the books specs, but wondered if having this to tight would not allow it to shift. I am going to pull pan an use the 1/4'' allen and check again. Any were else that I should look?

I'm a bit confused. Your sig says you have a 6spd. Is this on another truck?

If so, 47RE I presume or a HO/48RE? When I adjusted the bands, I adjusted it 1 more turn out than what my Haynes said to. From other posts I have read, if it won't shift out of first, it is sometimes the gov. pressure sensor or the governor.

Back off the front band 1 and 7/8ths turns after torquing to 72 inchpounds. If it was too tight it would be stuck in second, not first.

Sorry I should of give you a little more info. It is a 47rh that is in a 95 and now that I think about it is in 2nd that it will not come out of.

According to the service manual for my 94, with the 47RH transmission, the procedure for rear band adjustment is to loosen the locknut several turns and make sure the screw turns freely.

Then tighten the adjusting screw to 72 inch pounds, back off two full turns, hold the screw and tighten the locknut to 25 foot pounds.

I have done this several times with no problems.
