changed both filters on the FASS and bumped starter several times and let pump run until shut off then started the truck and ran for approx 30 seconds and then quit. obviously the pump didnt prime and fill itself. So I cracked the filter until the sound changed and then bumped starter several times more but now will not start. What now. any ideas

Thanks

I would bump the starter to get the 30 second pump run, and do that about 5 or 6 times. Then try to start it but ouly run the starter about 5 - 8 seconds max. If it doesnt start, give it 5 more 30 second runs, and then try again. It should start that way considering how much fuel the fass flows.

If it doesnt start after several cycles, put a battery charger on so you keep the volts up. You dont want to run the batts down to a low voltage condition, its hard on the electronics. .

If it doesnt start that way, youll need to crack open a few injector lines to purge that side of the VP. Its not hard, you just need a 19mm crows foot wrench, and a tq wrench set at 25-28 ft/lbs to retighten the lines afterwards.

I would think just going through the cycles a few times should get it running though. . Good Luck!

Also, you may need to crack the supply line open at the VP (or use the schrader valve if yours has one) while someone does the starter bump to run the fass and purge the air at that point. Just make sure you have rags wrapped around the line or youll have fuel spray everywhere. . I would do this before cracking injector lines open to make sure your getting fuel to the VP. .

Just some thoughts if it gets stubborn. .

Are you seeing normal fuel pressure on the gauge?

Hope that helps. .

Will Not Start After Changing Fass Filter

Thanks for the reply: It started right up this A. M. after cycling the starter 4 times. I know I tried it last night the same way but I guess having someone tell me I was doing it right got the job done. I was having low readings on the FP guage (12# and going to zero occasionallly) was why I wanted to change the filter. This AM also found wires were making bad connections on back of guage and pressure is back to 16-18. Oh what a restless nights sleep does for fixing things. Thanks again everybody and TDR. :) Oo. Oo. Oo.
