With the mods listed in my sig, what do you think that I could expect from a SMARTY? I am having some problems with the HX40 spooling slow so instead of wasting money to get a smaller turbo to spool quicker, I am thinking about putting a SMARTY on since I heard that they add alot in the bottom end. Also do you guys think that upgrading my Juice w/ Att. to the HOT version is worth the $100. I dont know what it does for the bottom end. Looking for more power now!:-laf

Also what do you think I can expect to gain and how does everyone like their SMARTY?

love mine ! cant live without it now. adds approx. 60 hp but does it down low, spools my turbo just fine w/TST off i get 32psi and 19mpg mixed driving.

My main problem is the lag of the HX40 spooling up. Once it spools I am fine and until it spools I see a ton of black smoke so I think that it is getting fuel but you think that the smarty will help my HX40 spool up quicker on the bottom end?

Smarty adds timing and alters TPS signal so response/spool is quicker. it wont take as much pedal to get the turbo going.

But wont work with Hot Juice! Both the Edge and Smarty add timing... We are still working on this issue and both Bob and Marco has not returned calls and emails

Upgrade turbo? Meaning a banks big head or could I just screw with the stock wastegate to get more boost? The reason I ask is because I am considering getting a box and was hearing many good things about Smarty. I realize it would probably be a good idea to get different injectors also. I guess I've been watching and reading for quite a while and am finally looking at getting a box and bigger injectors. Any suggestions for someone who's just been bit by the power bug? I don't want to go crazy but I would like a little more get up and go. I would like a good combination that will give me some more power but also better mileage if I can keep my foot out of it.

Meaning that you would have to alter the wastegate to get more boost, dont go over 35 psi on the stocker though. The best combos that I have heard are a fueling box only along with the smarty. Either a TST or blue chips APB or FMS. I average around 20 mpg give or take daily driving.

HTML:
The SMARTY has equal programs with and WITHOUT timing

Yes that is true... but for some reason this setup has not worked. I have sent the Edge back for testing and it came back fine.

Rick

Not worked how? What problems are you having? You should be able to run the edge along with a smarty sw# that does not alter the timing...

Anytime the Edge is set on level 6... it does not matter what level the Smarty is on...

That is the reason that we have been trying to get in touch with someone but no response!

Also from FAQ.

"The most difficult stack with the CaTCHER is with boxes that add their own timing.

For those cases we've stuffed the softwares without added timing into Smarty.

Yet, I have to say, we're not taking the full advantage of the dynamic timing the ECM can

provide.

It has been proved many times by now. The CaTCHER stacked with a fuel only box provide

the highest Hp gain. More than what a timing&fuel box that can't be stacked with anything will

provide. "

I agree with this statement... I cleaned setup that we have put together for a customer was a Catcher and TST... The truck ran awesome...

The advantage of the Edge or lets say eye candy is that attitude monitor... something that TST does not have.

First truck we did here at the shop was a 2000 with 110hp injectors,TST PowerMax3 and a Catcher... it put down 498 hp @ 1033 lbs or torque...

Rick

Rick. Please send me a PM with the symptoms again and I will forward it on to Marco to comment or write a test software.

I will also need the ecm code.

Let's see what we can do for you.

Thanks

This one got lost sorry

Something to consider with the auto trucks is the possibility of the cruise surging when coupled to larger injectors and slower spooling chargers.

I cannot use any of the Catcher softwares with the cruise. I also have a TST that stays off while towing. So, I use level 3 which is timing and fuel. I still get surge, but it is reduced from the Catcher softwares. The boost swing is usually 3-5 psi on level ground, 10-15 psi pulling hills.

My recommendation is to borrow one, try it and make sure it'll work in your application. I think big injectors, tall gears, and slower spooling turbos make it way too touchy for some.

Well I think that I am going to go with a SPS62 from II first and then the SMARTY in a couple of months. Yall have gotten me worried now though about stacking it with the Juice w/ Att. What do you think would be the most ideal settings for making the most horsepower when they are stack? What should I set the Edge on and what should I set the SMARTY on? Also what kind of HP and TQ numbers do you think that I will see with this setup? REALISTICALLY!
