Competition Scheids wins Jesup......(Friday)

I can't see how they would increase your EGTs, just make sure you're free-flowing. I have a 4" downpipe, a section of 4" and then a Walker Muffler that's 4" straight through, from there it opens up to 5" for the stacks... . not enough restriction to write home about. Of course, for now I'm only at 350 HP, if I was going to turn it up to 500, I'd look into going 5" all the way. Does anyone make a 5" downpipe?

Josiah

Piers has a 5" downpipe for his Twins (HT3B)

Dual stacks LOWER EGTs, as long as there are'nt too many 90 degree bends. Dual stacks are a must for high performance, as far as Class 8 tractors are concerned.

Where the downpipe splits in two, the exhaust basically ends, shortening the exhaust system and lowering the amount of backpressure.

I saw no difference from having dual 3" pipes exiting right underneath the Quad Cab Door, to going to Dual 5" Stacks exiting 12-16" above the cab.

5" to 6" stacks will help reduce EGT.

A few downsides,, They are higher Maintanence,, you will need to keep them straight,, plastic bags, or cups can't be laying around in the bed, or they could touch the stack and melt (Makes a mess), a soot shower on startup. If you run alot of fuel (smoke) through your truck, the problem will be worse.

I'd say go with the stacks. They look too cool. If they are straight piped, the drone inside the cab can get pretty obnoxious.

My opinion,

Hell yeah stack that baby!! Especially if you don't lift it, the stacks will get the attention you NEED!! I have 5" slant cut and and they look bad as hell, but you do have to wash your truck pretty often. The slant cuts are harder to keep clean than the turn outs, but I like slant cuts in 5" and turn outs in 4".

hey thanks for the responses guys! i see all you guys are telling me the "bad" things... . have to clean the truck often, obnoxious cab noise, etc. I am 18 years old i don't care THE LOUDER THE BETTER  . i know i will have my stacks straight piped. I would like to get a complete 4" down-pipe, a straight pipe then where the bend goes up 90 degrees to go into the bed. then i'd like the big y or u with the | on the bottom. then id like the run 5" pipes up to about 2 inches above the cab with a 30 degree angle cut going away from the cab (logical) Can anyone tell me where i can get these parts. And what are the correct names so when i go somewhere the guy who i ask wont look at me like i have 5 eyes  . THANK YOU!

Nick

BTW i am still getting a leveling kit, fender flares, and a nice big cowl hood, AND STAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :--) :D

Well hell do it man!! Stacks really arent that loud inside extended cab trucks. I think a T-pipe would be better than a Y-pipe. This will make a much cleaner look which is a must if you dont have a tool box. Two inches above the cab will be perfect. You are going to have one BAD truck. When are they coming out with that 200 horse chip?

thanks guys i will do it for sure. 200 hp chip? i think the max they will put out is 140. but i am going to do the trans work first. i think i am going to make input/output shafts at my machine shop. and ill probably go to bd for the tc, and valve bodies, and some kind of trans commander. then i will do a dd turbo, dd3 injectors, scotty 3, edge juice, and bigger fuel lines and biger fuel pusher,\. that way down the road though.

for now i want the stacks, fender flares, 2" leveling kit, and cowl hood on. maybe the scotty 3 also. everything else later...

Does anyone here with stack have any part numbers or anything they can send me? that would help alot. thanks

Torque This gave me a quickk ride in his stacked truck. 4" system to 5" stacks. it has a what, 18" long resonator... . highly recommend using one. it's still loud, but inside the cab it's not too loud- the tone is much deeper rather than a raspy straight pipe.

X-cummins,

I built everything myself. I basically used a 4" downpipe, 2, 45' elbows, and some flex pipe. I built the chamber which is basically 6"x6" square tubing, with the ends capped. If I were to do it again, I would buy 7"x7", becuase the 6" stacks barely fit on the 6"x6" chamber. I also just came up in the middle of the chamber (so the smoke would roll out of each stack evenly), with the 4" pipe. Then I cut 6" holes out of the chamber (measured and figured out where I wanted them to be positioned) and welded nipples to the chamber. Then I put the 6" OD x 36" long on. I also shimmed the chamber up off the bed so it is not sitting right on the bed floor. Then I when to a local machine shop and had them bend me the Diamond tread plate, then I cut the holes out with a plasma cutter.

I purchased the the chrome stacks as blemished at www.chromedepot.com for a pretty good price. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Justin..... it is good to be part of TDR!

I ordered mine through a local big rig shop. All the parts come from Riker. They have a catalog that I went through and pieced everything together. My 36" long 5" stacks are a little longer than I had wanted, but I think the 24" would be a perfect length.
