I'm a bit confused about the different products and need some straight forward answers.

I realize the VA,Blue Box and etc. other boxes change mapping by allowing more fuel to be dumped. Do these boxes have any relationship towards allowing for boost to exceed the 20psi max. stock. In other words do these boxes do the same thing that a boost module does? If not where does the boost module connect to? What is an elbow?

I thought before I go an order a DDIII kit,I'd better understand what I'm about to order and what the differences are in the different products.

Please post in lengthy laymans terms for I am seriously seeking knowledge. Thanks

WOWZY, I do not have any upgrades as yet but have been in contact with HVAC on this subject. Go to his site at http://www.performancediesel. 20m.com/ to see what is stated about the Power Edge fueling module. He has a special introductory price. I am in the process of purchasing this product from him. He does recommend installing upgraded injectors first which funds do not allow for me at this time. I think the module will prove to be an asset without an injector change at this time. See his post on this page Power Edge Fueling Module. This module has a built-in boost module and the price is a good one compared to other prices I have seen. There is a lot of products you can buy. You have to feel out the prices and decide where you want to start. Just my opinion.

Wowzy, DD recommends that you install a boost module with the stage II and III injectors. I don't know much about other brands on boxes, but I do know that the TST PowerMax's have a built in boost module and elbow for the turbo. Talk to HVAC about the Blue Box or the PowerEdge to see what it includes.

I am not a rookie when it comes to drag race gasoline burning engines as my small block Dart will testify, but with the Diesel performance mods I'm a novice. I will try to explain , but if I make a mistake someone jump in and help out!

1) Fueling Module: A electronic device that hooks to the computer controlled injection pump for the 24 valve Cummins that will up the fuel delivery to the engine.

2) Boost Module: An electronic device that hooks in sequence with the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor that takes control of the signals to the Cummins ecm so it does not see overboost conditions and cause defueling.

3) Boost Elbow: A small brass fitting that takes the place of the stock fitting for the pressure hose to the diaphram that operates the wastegate. This replacement fitting has a small hole (read bleed) so some pressure gets let out so the diaphram does not get the real pressure reading to hold the wastegate from coming on until the boost pressure is up over the stock setting.

I had to edit after rereading this post. I try not to mispell but I am human.

First I'd like to thank WOWZY for asking the same question I was going to ask. Thanks! and send me an E-Mail, wanna see pics of your truck. #ad
See my Sig.

Thanks Mopar1 for the layman's answers. Is there a way to get one of the boost elbows? I haven't seen it listed on anyone's site as of yet. #ad

Thanks Mopar, I just wanted to find out whats the most bang for my buck. I'd thought about ordering the DDIII kit and not installing the injectors. I wanted to see what kind of power that I would be getting by just installing the module and takeing my rig to the local CUMMINS complex and putting it on their chassis dyno. Then doing it again with the injectors installed.

Did I read correctly that the Power Edge has a built in boost module? I may have to reconsider and order one from HVAC and get the DDIII A injectors. I heard that the DDIII's smoke a bit but that doesn't bother me one bit.

Wowzy-

Sent ya a email on the animations... . also yes the PowerEdge has a boost module integrated into it.

PowerEdge Fueling Box

Get in touch with HVAC he has a decent deal on the PowerEdge... down the road I am gonna slap in DD Stage III (A) along with the PowerEdge so that should be kinda fun... ...

Mick2500, I think you can get one from HVAC but I am not possitive. My memory from all these posts is not all that good. If you can email him I'm sure he could help or lead you in the right direction.

Mopars1,
I sent HVAC a note yesterday.
Thanks
Mick

Thanks Kat, I will be sending HVAC an E-mail to get a price and ordering info.

Great instructions, I'm as confused as ever but thats not your fault. I shouldn't have played in the mud for the last 17yrs. and got into computers earlier. One of my friends will be coming over to watch the race this sunday and i'll have him explain it all to me. Thanks again.
