Will the ATS manifold for a 94 model work on my 92?

Thanks, TDR Staff

Has anyone used a firstgen PCM in a conversion?

Just what the title asks. I was just told, by TST, that ATS doesn't offer a 3 piece manifold for the 92. Will the 94 one work on my 92? Isn't the head the same? Does anyone make an exhaust manifold for our trucks?

It will work. I called ATS directly.

Yes it will. A 12valve head is a 12valve head. I think there were some minor changes along the way, but nothing appreciable. I have heard some say the later head flows a little better; others say it is just a myth for the 2ndGenners to make themselves feel better. Who knows. I have run (stock) manifolds from 2ndGen trucks (newer, fewer miles, less shrinkage) on 1stGens with no problems. You MIGHT have to move a heater hose support bracket, but that would be the most you'd have to do.

Oh yes, I remember now. He was cursing at it (or his own stupidity) at SOP2, after picking it up when it was still hot from the heat he applied to it.

Ohhhh... I too remember that. After watching him, I sure hope I don't have to assemble one. Fact is, several of the aftermarket three piece jobs are now pre assembled. Now I know why... ... ... ... ... LOL

Oh, and the story they feed you about " we don't make parts for the first generation trucks is all bull. All the vendors are in it together. Trust me on this. Make a few phone calls about anything you like, say 60# valve springs, heavy flex plate etc. or read through the Geno's cataloge.

Thanks guys. The guy at ATS told me they were the same. Why the gal from TST didn't ask for me, I don't know. While I was on the phone with the ATS guy, I asked about the intake working on a first gen. He initially said it wouldn't work because of the hydroboost brakes. When I told him I did not have hydroboost, I have a vacuum pump, he said to look at a 95 or so 12 valve and if there were no obstructions, it would work.

Do they really not know??? I mean c'mon, would it take much more R&D money to go look at one older truck? Dunno. My stuff is on the way and I am happy.

It's not that they "don't know" so much , as it is "they don't need to know".

The market research tells the everyday vendor that there is "no market" for the older trucks. Which translates to "there are not enough of them on the road and if there was, they are not modified"

Forrest Gump once told me that "Stupid is as stupid does".

It's why I buy most ALL parts from PRD. They provide service for the "First Gen Guys"

It's a wonder that Fleetguard still makes oil filters for our engines, isn't it... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... ?
