The Wilson trucker 2000 and 5000 Trucker, "Roof Mount" (Non- magnetic) Base load Antenna- Does it have the Quick release like a K-40? Thanks.

Kinda

I have the 5000 roof mount on mine as well. It isn't a quick connect like the K-40, but you can unscrew the base and screw on a hard plastic cover to protect the roof connector from the elements.

I just talked to EEI and ordered a 1000. They said the only diff between a 1000/2000/5000 is the amount of power they handle but will all work the same. I'm getting a 10 meter rig, export, but definately won't be putting out more than 1000 watts. All the K40's are back ordered due to christmas. It is important to have one that is removeable.

I have a 1000. It unscrews pretty easily - not a whole lot more effort than the k40 which just twists off. A little more time and hand motion with the 1000 that's all. Optimum SWR right out of the box with my Uniden PC68 - didn't have to trim the whip at all. Great antenna.

What Ken said!!! When I bought my 1000, the fellow at the CB shop said' "bottom the whip out in the base, raise it 1/2" and check the SWR's. They checked out below 1. 5 the first time... ... ... .....
